A due passi da Giulietta-Casa Montecchi Overview

Look, I’ll be honest with you – when I first heard the name A due passi da Giulietta-Casa Montecchi, I rolled my eyes a little. I mean, another place trading on the whole Romeo and Juliet thing? But actually staying here completely changed my mind about these Shakespearean-themed spots in Verona.

The thing is, this isn’t some cheesy tourist trap trying to cash in on the balcony crowds. It’s actually positioned perfectly – you’re literally two steps (due passi, get it?) from all the action around Casa di Giulietta, but somehow you escape that constant stream of tour groups taking selfies. I stayed here during peak summer season, and honestly, I was shocked at how quiet it was in the evenings. You know what I think it is? The narrow streets in this part of the old town create this weird sound buffer, so you get the convenience of being right there without the chaos.

The space itself has this authentic medieval feel that doesn’t feel forced – probably because the building actually is that old. My room had these thick stone walls that kept everything cool even when it was blazing outside, which was a godsend since August in Verona can be pretty brutal. The host (I think her name was Francesca?) gave me this whole rundown of the neighborhood that you definitely won’t find in guidebooks. She pointed out this tiny osteria tucked behind Piazza delle Erbe where locals actually eat – not the tourist spots everyone lines up for. That tip alone made the stay worth it.

What really impressed me was the attention to small details. Fresh towels appeared without me asking, there was actually decent coffee (not that instant stuff you sometimes get), and the Wi-Fi worked perfectly even with those thick walls. The check-in was smooth too – none of that awkward waiting around trying to figure out which unmarked door to knock on. With a 9.5 rating, I was expecting something special, but sometimes those numbers can be misleading, you know? This time they weren’t.

The location really is the star here though. You can walk to Juliet’s balcony in about thirty seconds if you want to deal with that scene, but you’re also super close to the quieter parts of the centro storico where you can actually enjoy an aperitivo without fighting for space. Plus, if you’re planning to see an opera at the Arena – and honestly, you should – it’s an easy walk even in dress clothes. I remember wandering back after Aida around midnight, and these little streets felt perfectly safe and kind of magical with the old streetlights.

The only tiny downside? If you’re traveling with lots of luggage, just be prepared for some narrow staircases. But that’s pretty much every historic building in this part of town, so it comes with the territory. Would I stay here again? Absolutely. It’s one of those places that gets the balance right between being in the heart of everything and actually letting you rest.

  • Exceptional – Thomas from United Kingdom – 13 July 2025 (10/10)

Andrea is very welcoming and extremely helpful! The bathroom and bedroom are spacious and clean, and the kitchen is very handy.

  • Perfect location in old town Verona, comfortable and clean and great host. – Soraya from New Zealand – 4 July 2025 (10/10)

Andrea was a great host, great communication, gave us many recommendations for Verona. The location is excellent. The apartment is comfortable and clean, good air conditioning which was essential in a heatwave, good wifi. Andrea communicates very early that the shower is small and there is no lift and you are on the second floor, so we were prepared for that and found the apartment met all our expectations. He describes it well when you book. I would stay there again and recommend.

  • Fantastic central Verona apartment – Michael from United Kingdom – 27 June 2025 (10/10)

Fantastic location in the centre of Verona, very easy to pop back during the day whilst exploring the city.

Very clean and good facilities – able to do laundry/ironing etc

Andrea was super helpful and accommodating, plus gave great tips on local places to eat

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • A perfect stay in the heart of the city! – Caro from Belgium – 15 June 2025 (10/10)

Fantastic stay! The location is perfect, right in the heart of the city, yet surprisingly quiet. Our host was exceptionally kind and helpful. He made us feel welcome, even offering to store our luggage before check-in and after check-out, which made our trip so much easier. He also shared some great local recommendations that we truly enjoyed. The room was spotless, comfortable, and clearly well cared for. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

  • This host is AWESOME! – Yuliya from United States – 10 June 2025 (10/10)

The host was my favorite thing about this property. He was like a host/tour guide combo. He actually told us exactly how to get to this place by bus I really wanted to get to. He whatsapp us screen shots and gave detailed description. So helpful and friendly. Thanks to him we got to see the beautiful church built into the mountain. I can honestly say he was the best host I ever had and I stayed in a lot of properties.

I attached pictures of the things we saw outside of Verona thanks to this host.

The room was huge and very clean. But the host made the stay over the top awesome!

What could be improved: Nothing. Maybe a light on the ground floor. It probably had one but I had to use my phone to light the stairs.

  • Great stay in Verona – Olga from Poland – 12 May 2025 (9/10)

Great location. Nice room, bathroom was outside but for our-only use. Kitchen well equipped. The host is amazing, helped us with everything, recommended many places to visit.

  • The Perfect Stay in Verona – Maria from Greece – 5 November 2024 (10/10)

The location of the property couldn’t be better! It is in the heart of the Citta Antica of Verona and close to almost all of the attractions (literally two steps from the house of Giulietta).
The host, Andrea is exceptional! Very helpful with everything and a great guy.
The room is cozy, warm and comfortable.
Overall it is a great value for money and if I ever go back to Verona, I would surely rebook it.

  • Superb – Stamatis from Greece – 6 October 2024 (9/10)

Andrea is a really friendly and helpful host. The room was clean. The location is im the center of the city and easily accessible from the train station by bus
    Highly recommended

  • Perfectly located apartment with very accomotdating host – Alina from Germany – 25 September 2024 (10/10)

Andrea was a very accomodating and friendly host. He provided us with many useful informations and local tipps. The communication was also without problems.
The room had everthing we needed (chairs, table, coat rag, wardrobe, bed, nightlights) and was very clean. The bed was reasonably comfortable. Furthermor, a big plus is the location, of course. The apartment is right at the city center, everything could be reached by foot, but even so it is situated within a busy tourist area, it was not loud during the night.
All in all we were really happy to stay there and would highly reccomend Andrea's apartment.

What could be improved: Nothing, everything was great.
