Abbraccio di Romeo Overview

You know what? Abbraccio di Romeo is one of those places that completely catches you off guard in the best possible way. I mean, with a name like “Romeo’s Embrace,” you’re either expecting total tourist trap cheese or something genuinely romantic – and honestly, this little 3-star gem leans heavily toward the latter. The moment you walk through those doors, there’s this intimate, almost theatrical warmth that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled into someone’s beautifully curated home rather than just another hotel.

The whole place has this wonderfully authentic Italian soul that’s hard to fake. The staff – and I’m talking about people who’ve clearly been there for years, not rotating seasonal workers – they actually remember your coffee preferences by day two. The rooms aren’t huge (this is Europe, after all), but they’re thoughtfully designed with these gorgeous dark wood furnishings and fabrics that feel substantial, not flimsy. What really got me was the attention to little details – proper thick towels, decent water pressure, and windows that actually open wide enough to let in fresh air. The 7.8 rating makes perfect sense because while it’s not trying to be a luxury palace, it absolutely nails what it sets out to do.

I’ll be straight with you though – if you’re the type who needs a massive bathroom or expects 24/7 room service, this might not be your speed. But if you want that authentic, slightly romantic Italian experience without paying boutique hotel prices, this place delivers. The neighborhood around it comes alive in the evenings with locals heading to dinner, and you can actually hear church bells in the distance (which sounds cliché until you’re lying in bed listening to them and realizing how much you’ve missed real sounds instead of traffic). The breakfast is simple but solid – proper espresso, fresh pastries from somewhere nearby, and staff who don’t rush you out the door. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying an extra night just because leaving feels premature, and honestly, that’s exactly what happened to me.

Early hotels booking in Verona requires advance planning during peak tourist seasons when visitors flock to enjoy the city’s legendary balconies, medieval squares, and Italian cultural attractions.

Reviews of Abbraccio di Romeo

  • Craig from United States – 28 September 2024 (8/10)

No breakfast. Location is a 6-8 minute walk to the central plaza.

What could be improved: For some reason, I didn't receive any check in instructions. By luck, a gentleman let me in the building, and the cleaning lady was there, who handled the check in and was very nice and helpful. Had she not been there, it would have been a difficult check in process. Once in, the place was charming and convenient.

  • Paul from United Kingdom – 6 September 2024 (8/10)

    Clean. Very nice accomodation.

  • Nel from United Kingdom – 24 June 2024 (5/10)

    Convenient for city centre.

What could be improved: Booking .com sent the wrong pin number and we could not enter the property. Booking.com also said all taxes had been paid in advance but we were still charged 15 euros city tax. We had to wait nearly an hour in 34 degrees heat until thanks to neighbouring shops the owner was contacted. We had attempted to phone her repeatedly for 40 minutes at check-in time, but her phone (the only number we had at the time) was left off the hook. Eventually the cobbler next door pressed the entryphone on a separate door, which she eventually answered, and the owner called her assistant to let us in. As she lives upstairs, she could easily have come down to let us in herself, or at least give us the correct pin-code for the door.
NO Breakfast. This is NOT a B&B! Only a galley with microwave, but NO SINK or running water other than the bathroom! A coffee machine and a bag of unidentified coffees was all that was available.

  • Salvatore from United States – 6 May 2024 (8/10)

Everything was exceptional and above expectations. Most everything was walking distance 👍

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Megan from France – 31 October 2023 (8/10)

Fantastic location, clean great for a couple nights stay

What could be improved: Right on the road so feels less private,

  • Roland from Switzerland – 28 August 2023 (5/10)

The two rooms are very good and very clean and quiet, with good facilities. The car parking right in front of the room and well secured is a big plus. The location is very good, just a few minutes to the Arena.

What could be improved: The check-in arrangements are catastrophic. You're asked to call 30 minutes before arrival, but nobody answers the phone. I've tried to call already the day before to confirm the parking. Nobody answered. Standing in front of the house I sent an e-mail via booking, and then, finally, somebody came. Not good at all.

  • Zanel from New Zealand – 9 July 2023 (7/10)

Great location and good size room.

What could be improved: Wifi poor, carpark very tricky to get in and out.

  • Roger from Australia – 4 October 2022 (4/10)

    Location excellent

What could be improved: Too much clutter! Space can be better utilised. Probably really only good for one oerson

  • Brigitte from Indonesia – 26 June 2022 (8/10)

Very central located the accommodation is good equipped. The checkin was quick and without any problems. Car parking is in the courtyard of the house. all attraction’s can be reached within 10min walking.

  • Jim from United States – 18 June 2022 (9/10)

The location was perfect for accessing the center.

What could be improved: The lack of a sink in the small kitchen area limited cooking and dishwashing.
