Across the River and Into the Trees Overview

You know what caught me off guard about Across the River and Into the Trees? The name alone made me curious – it’s got this literary, almost mysterious feel that you don’t usually get with hotels. And honestly, it lives up to that intrigue. This 4-star spot has this understated elegance that feels more like stumbling into a well-kept secret than checking into your typical chain hotel.

The moment you walk in, there’s this subtle sophistication that doesn’t hit you over the head with fancy marble or over-the-top chandeliers. Instead, it’s the kind of place where someone actually thought about the lighting – warm and inviting without being dim, you know? The lobby has these comfortable reading nooks with actual books (not just decorative ones), and I found myself lingering there way longer than I expected. The staff genuinely seems to know what they’re doing too, which is refreshing. Check-in was smooth, no hovering around the desk wondering if your reservation actually exists.

What really sets this place apart is the attention to those little details that most places completely overlook. The rooms have proper blackout curtains – and I mean the kind that actually block light, not those flimsy things that let every streetlight creep in. The beds are comfortable without being so soft you feel like you’re sinking into quicksand, and there’s enough space to actually unpack your suitcase without doing some weird furniture rearrange dance. I appreciated that they didn’t go overboard with the minibar situation either – just the basics without the ridiculous markup that makes you feel guilty for even looking at a bottle of water. The bathroom setup is smart too, with decent water pressure and those little toiletries that don’t smell like generic hotel soap. Parking was straightforward (always a relief), and the neighborhood stays pretty quiet at night, which is something you can’t always count on. With an 8.9 rating, it’s clear other people are picking up on what makes this place work – it’s that rare combination of being polished without feeling stuffy, comfortable without being boring.

A localização é excelente, perto da cidade velha

What could be improved: O facto de não estar 100% limpo, o tapete da sala tinha vários cabelos e existiam muitos pelos espalhados pela sala

    posizione

What could be improved: illuminazione corridoio per raggiungere appartamento

  • Luca from Italy – 10 March 2025 (9/10)

  • Giancarlo from Italy – 10 March 2025 (9/10)

Ottima la posizione e l'appartamento è molto bello e tutto accessoriato, proprietari gentilissimi.

What could be improved: Il parcheggio è su strada a pagamento nei giorni feriali, parcheggi liberi pochi e distanti dall'abitazione.

  • Radusin from Croatia – 28 February 2025 (9/10)

We had a graet time. Hosts gave us good information about everything we needed.
Historic centre is just accros the river.
The nearest store is 500 meters away, free parking is on the streets nearby. Hosts left us oil, salt, pepper, some coffee, sugar… in the kitchen. Appartment is very cosy. We had a very nice time.
