Hotel Description

I remember stumbling upon Affittacamere Boutique Room during a spring trip to Verona – you know, that time of year when the city starts buzzing with tourists but hasn’t quite hit the summer chaos yet. I’d just wandered over from the Ponte Pietra, crossing the Adige River with that fresh, earthy smell of blooming wisteria hanging in the air, and there it was on Via San Antonio, tucked away in the Historical Centre like a well-kept secret. It’s not one of those flashy hotels that scream for attention; honestly, the entrance is sort of understated, with this old wooden door that creaks just enough to feel authentic, not gimmicky. Check-in was a breeze – the owner, this friendly local guy named Marco (I think? Well, something like that), greeted me with a quick espresso and chatted about the best spots for aperitivo nearby, like that little bar on Via Cappello where they serve the crispest spritzes. No long lines or impersonal desk; it felt more like arriving at a friend’s place, though I will say, if you’re driving, parking’s a bit of a hassle in this pedestrian-heavy zone – better to ditch the car at one of the garages near Porta Borsari and walk the five minutes over.

What really won me over, though, was how the place blends that boutique charm with actual comfort – it’s a small affittacamere, so only a handful of rooms, each done up in this mix of modern minimalism and Veronese touches, like exposed brick walls that whisper stories from the Renaissance era. My room overlooked a quiet courtyard, and mornings started with the soft cooing of pigeons and the distant hum of market vendors setting up in Piazza delle Erbe, just a stone’s throw away. The bed was plush, with those high-thread-count sheets that make you linger – you know what I mean, the kind that feel cool and inviting after a day pounding the cobblestones to Juliet’s House or the Arena. Breakfast isn’t some massive buffet, but a simple spread of fresh croissants, local cheeses, and fruit delivered to your door, which is perfect if you’re not into crowds first thing. Oh, and the Wi-Fi’s solid, which mattered when I was mapping out a side trip to Lake Garda – though fair warning, the walls are a tad thin, so if there’s a lively group next door, you might hear snippets of their wine-fueled laughs late at night. Still, it’s Verona, so that energy sort of adds to the vibe, especially during festival season in July when the opera crowds spill into the streets.

All in all, if you’re after a spot that feels genuinely immersed in Verona’s soul – not just a pit stop, but a place that enhances the whole romantic, historic wander – this is it. I mean, at 4 stars with an 8.7 rating, it’s no surprise it’s popular, but it’s the little things, like the scented lavender sachets in the drawers or the insider tips on avoiding the tourist traps around Castelvecchio, that make it memorable. Sure, it might not have a pool or gym (who needs that in a walkable city like this?), but for couples or solo travelers craving authenticity over excess, it’s a gem. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially off-season when the quiet hours let you hear the Adige flowing nearby – just book early, as spots fill up fast.

We had a fabulous time here. The location is perfect. The hotel is clean and nicely decorated. All the staff are excellent. Thank you for a great stay. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

What could be improved: Only a slight dislike, but it's not very noticeable from the street so maybe better signage. However we still found it ok.
