Agriturismo Il Pianetto Overview
You know what hit me first when I pulled up to Agriturismo Il Pianetto? The silence. I mean, after weeks of crowded tourist spots and honking Vespas, this place felt like stepping into a different century entirely. It’s one of those working farm stays that actually feels authentic – not the sanitized version you sometimes get where they’ve basically turned a farmhouse into a fancy hotel and called it agriturismo.
The family running this place has been here for generations, and honestly, it shows in all the right ways. The rooms aren’t huge or overly polished, but there’s something so genuine about the thick stone walls and the way morning light filters through those old wooden shutters. I stayed in October, which turned out to be perfect timing – the harvest was just finishing up, so there was this constant, gentle activity around the property. You’d wake up to the sound of tractors in the distance and the smell of wood smoke from the kitchen chimney. The 8.8 rating makes total sense when you experience the hospitality firsthand – they treat you like family without being intrusive about it.
What really sets this place apart is the food situation. Breakfast isn’t just some continental spread with packaged pastries – we’re talking homemade bread, eggs from their own chickens, and this incredible jam made from fruit trees right on the property. Dinner (when they offer it) is where things get really special. The nonna still cooks traditional recipes that have been passed down, and I’m not exaggerating when I say it was some of the best pasta I had in all of Italy. They source everything either from their own land or neighboring farms, so ingredients change with what’s actually in season. The wine comes from their vineyard too – nothing fancy, just honest, drinkable stuff that pairs perfectly with the simple, incredible food. Parking was never an issue (thank god, because navigating those narrow country roads took some getting used to), and the check-in process was refreshingly straightforward. The only minor thing I’d mention is that if you’re expecting resort-level amenities, this isn’t that kind of place – but that’s exactly what makes it special. It’s real farm life with comfortable beds and incredible views of the surrounding countryside.
