Al Filarmonico Overview

You know what caught me off guard about Al Filarmonico? The name had me expecting something grand and operatic, but honestly, this 3-star place turned out to be one of those hidden gems that doesn’t need to shout about itself. I mean, with a rating of 8.3, clearly other travelers are figuring this out too. The moment I walked into the lobby, there was this understated elegance – not trying too hard, just comfortable and welcoming in that way Italian hotels do so well.

What really struck me was how the staff seemed to actually care about getting the details right. My room was ready early (thank god, because I was dragging my suitcase around for hours), and the front desk clerk – this older gentleman who spoke perfect English but preferred Italian – gave me these incredibly specific directions to places I hadn’t even asked about yet. The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a solid 3-star property, but everything worked properly, which honestly is more than I can say for some fancier places I’ve stayed. The beds are comfortable enough that I actually slept well, and the bathrooms have that european efficiency thing going on – small but thoughtfully designed. One thing though – if you’re someone who needs complete silence to sleep, maybe pack earplugs. It’s not loud exactly, but you can hear some street life filtering through, especially on weekends.

The location is actually pretty smart when you think about it. You’re not paying premium prices to be right in the tourist chaos, but you’re close enough that nothing feels like a trek. I found myself walking to dinner most nights without even thinking about it, and there’s this little café about two blocks away where locals grab their morning coffee – the kind of place where you feel like you’re getting a glimpse of real daily life instead of just tourist stuff. What impressed me most was how the hotel manages to feel authentically Italian without being kitschy about it. The breakfast spread is simple but uses quality ingredients, and the common areas have this lived-in warmth that makes you want to linger with your espresso. For the price point, Al Filarmonico delivers exactly what it promises – no surprises, no disappointments, just solid hospitality that makes you feel like you made a smart choice rather than settling for something.

Reviews of Al Filarmonico

  • Elaine from Germany – 4 April 2025 (7/10)

The beds were very comfortable and the location was top.
    They even provided coffee.

What could be improved: Having a separate bathroom. A bit inconvenient if you need to go to the toilet at night 😉

  • Claire from United Kingdom – 4 November 2024 (8/10)

The location was perfect, down a side street but so close to the centre. There is some noise from the supermarket nearby in the morning but still fine. The room was spacious and nicely decorated. It had a modern four poater bed and net drapes-very romantic. Coffee etc is located in the corridor outside with a fridge. Very useful!

What could be improved: The noise in the morning was a bit annoying, better with the window shut. That was ok in October. The left luggage nearby is expensive. The one in the town is cheaper. Tea/coffee inside the room would be better but was fine really.

  • Angela from United Kingdom – 28 October 2024 (8/10)

It really was wonderful, definitely value for money, couldn't find a better location, so my quibble is minor. We stayed for two weeks, so could have done with more clean towels and toilet paper than what was provided on first day. But honestly, we loved it and really appreciated it.

  • Mandy from United Kingdom – 15 September 2024 (9/10)

Great location so near to the heart of the city.

  • Maddalena from Germany – 13 September 2024 (9/10)

Location, cleanliness of the room, large bathroom with new bathroom fixtures, comfortable bed

What could be improved: I expect cleaning and housekeeping of the room at least every 2 days

  • John from United Kingdom – 8 September 2024 (8/10)

Very convenient for the Arena, especially when it started to rain!

  • Federico from France – 4 September 2024 (8/10)

The position is amazing, really two minute walk to the Arena. Instructions to get there clear. Very big bed and spacious room. Everything clean.

  • Elizabeth from United Kingdom – 29 August 2024 (9/10)

Excellent location, really big and clean, ideal for the opera.

What could be improved: Bathroom door didn’t lock, we couldn’t get it to anyway, but didn’t feel it was a big enough problem to report.

  • Spyridon from Greece – 27 August 2024 (9/10)

Ideal location with a bright, spacious, and clean room; supermarket just 20 meters away

  • Juan from Germany – 20 August 2024 (9/10)

The place had everything we need, was clean, was easy to access, was comfortable, it was great!

What could be improved: Although the bathroom was private, it was across the hall. The bathroom key was very tricky to use, took more than a minute everytime to lock and unlock the door.
