You know what struck me first about Alatea Porta Nuova 20? It’s one of those places that immediately feels right when you walk in – and honestly, with a 9.5 rating, I wasn’t the only one who thought so. I mean, you don’t see scores like that every day, especially for a three-star property, so I was genuinely curious what they were doing differently.

The thing about this place is that it sits in one of Milan‘s most exciting neighborhoods right now. Porta Nuova has completely transformed over the past decade – I remember when this area was pretty unremarkable, but now you’ve got those stunning Bosco Verticale towers nearby and the whole district buzzes with this modern energy. What I actually love about staying here though is that you get all that contemporary Milan vibe without paying those sky-high prices you’d shell out for the big luxury chains in the same area. The staff clearly takes pride in what they’re doing – check-in was smooth, they knew their neighborhood recommendations (always a good sign), and there’s this attention to detail that you honestly don’t always get even at four-star places.

The rooms themselves surprised me. I mean, three stars can be hit or miss, right? But everything felt thoughtfully put together rather than just functional. The beds were actually comfortable – not just “fine for a night or two” but genuinely good sleep. And here’s something practical that matters: the area can get pretty lively, especially on weekends, but the windows did a solid job keeping street noise manageable. Parking around Porta Nuova can be tricky if you’re driving, so definitely ask them about options when you book. What really won me over though was how the place struck this balance between being professionally run and feeling welcoming. You’ll find yourself within walking distance of Corso Como for nightlife, easy metro connections to get anywhere in the city, and honestly some of the best aperitivo spots Milan has to offer are basically on your doorstep. It’s the kind of place where you start recommending it to friends before you’ve even checked out – and with that rating, I’m clearly not alone in thinking they’ve got something special going on here.

  Very convenient location, fast response from hosts always. Nice with amenities like some cotton buds, filer, sleepers… Also a plus to have the self-storage for luggage after check out.
  
  Sadly this room was incredibly noisy, with two big windows in the first floor facing a trafficked street. Impossible to sleep after 6 am with the traffic noise, despite having earplugs (provided by the hosts). The fridge in the room is also noisy as well as the fan in the bathroom (so annoyingly loud)
  
  Some more negatives: Not so nice with check out at 10, too early! And the pillows are way too hard and high. A low soft pillow should be available.
  
  I did not sleep these two nights due to pillows and noise, so can't say better things about the place unfortunately.

  Consigliatissimo a tutti. È in un' ottima zona, vicino al centro e a mezzi di trasporto. La camera è super accogliente e molto spaziosa. L'ho trovata perfettamente pulita ed ordinata. I titolari, anche se non li ho conosciuti di persona, sono stati molto disponibili e attenti alle mie richieste.

  I had a wonderful stay at Alatea Porta Nuova 20! The accommodation was excellent, fully equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The room was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, and had some lovely small surprises that made my experience even better.
  
  The location is perfect—within walking distance of the main attractions but still in a quiet and peaceful area. The check-in process was smooth and hassle-free, and the host was very responsive and helpful.

  The accommodation was very clean, comfortable and in a convenient location. Big spacious room and gorgeous decor.
  
  Additionally, the recommendations of things to do and places to eat provided by the host absolutely transformed our experience in Verona. We went to three of the recommended bars/restaurants and had incredible experiences at each, including possibly the best italian food we have ever eaten. We were very grateful for these tips from the host.
  
  What could be improved: Absolutely nothing.

  The bed is VERY good; the room has a lot of space, and the shower is also big and modern. There was a capsule coffee machine, slippers, earplugs and water in the fridge. The self check-in experience was smooth.
  
  What could be improved: The fridge was LOUD. Luckily we didn't need it for anything so just unplugged it immediately. The kitchenette can be better equipped (no bigger mugs, no forks for takeaways etc.) The hosts kept spamming me with long messages in Italian which stressed me out a little that I was missing out on something.

  I like everything about this apartment and I used the local city bus # 11,12,13 (maybe there are other ones too) to get there from the train station because it is located by the Viale Verde bus stop (unmarked but a major bus stop). See photo attached.
  A few expensive but very good restaurants/bars nearby. Without any luggage I easily walked back and forth to the train station everyday to train to nearby cities and yet it is just 300 meter (990 ft) away from Verona’s iconic double arched entry gate by the arena. The hosts have created a great place to stay as they have thought of everything that guests may need.
  
  What could be improved: I wished it came with a limousine service :-), because there is never enough taxi available at the train station, you really have to race getting out of the train to get a taxi. I never had enough luck/speed to get a taxi so I had to use the bus or walk to the apartment but I am thankful for the conveniently nearby Viale Val Verde bus stop (3rd or 4th stop from the train station). No UBER or BOLT, or FREENOW taxi app available in Verona.
