First Impressions

Walking up to Albergo Mazzanti, you immediately get that “I’m in the real Verona” feeling — this three-star hotel sits right on Via Mazzanti in the historical center, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better. The building itself has that classic Italian charm without being overly fancy, which I actually prefer. You’re literally steps away from Piazza delle Erbe and the famous Juliet’s balcony, but what struck me most was how the hotel manages to feel like a local secret despite being so centrally located.

The Heart of Verona

Here’s what I love about staying at Albergo Mazzanti — you can roll out of bed and be at the morning market in Piazza delle Erbe in about two minutes. The narrow cobblestone streets around Via Mazzanti are lined with cafes where locals actually drink their morning espresso, not just tourist traps. I mean, couples rate this location 9.8 out of 10, and after spending time here, I totally get why. You’re close enough to everything that matters — the Arena di Verona, Casa di Giulietta, all the main piazzas — but the street itself stays relatively quiet, especially in the evenings when the day-trippers head back to their buses.

The Rooms

I’ll be honest, this isn’t a upscale property, but the rooms are exactly what you need after a day of wandering Verona’s streets. The beds are genuinely comfortable — and I’m someone who usually struggles with hotel mattresses. The rooms have that simple, clean Italian style without unnecessary frills, which works perfectly when you’re spending most of your time exploring the city anyway. The bathrooms are compact but well-designed, and you know what? Sometimes that’s all you really need when the location is this good.

Morning Fuel

The buffet breakfast here does the job well — fresh pastries, good coffee (this is Italy, after all), and enough variety to get you going for the day. What I appreciated was that it felt authentically Italian rather than trying to cater to every possible international preference. The breakfast room has a cozy atmosphere, and the staff actually seems to care about making sure you’re set up for your day of sightseeing. It’s not elaborate, but it’s done right.

Albergo Mazzanti works because it understands what travelers to Verona actually want — a comfortable base in the absolute heart of the city without paying five-star prices. The staff knows the area inside and out, so they’ll point you toward the best local restaurants (not the tourist ones) and help you time your visits to avoid the crowds. When you can walk to everything that matters in under five minutes, sleep well at night, and wake up in the center of one of Italy’s most romantic cities, you realize that sometimes the three-star experience hits the sweet spot perfectly.
