Hotel Description
I remember pulling up to AMBRA CITY HOUSE on Via Ludovico Ariosto – you know, that quiet stretch in Borgo Roma, just south of Verona’s historic center – and thinking, wow, this is way easier than I expected. It’s not smack in the tourist chaos around the Arena or Piazza delle Erbe, but honestly, that’s a blessing if you’re driving in from the A4 highway like I was. Free parking right out front? A total game-changer in a city where spots vanish faster than gelato in July. I mean, I rolled in around dusk during peak summer season, and there was no circling blocks or paying an arm and a leg – just pull up, grab your bags, and you’re in through that direct entrance. The neighborhood feels real, sort of residential with those low-key apartment buildings and a little bakery down the street that wafts fresh cornetti smells in the morning. Oh, and if you’re into local vibes, it’s a quick stroll to the Adige River paths – great for shaking off jet lag with a walk, though watch out for cyclists; they zip by like they’re training for the Giro d’Italia.
What really sold me on this place – it’s a solid 3-star spot with a 9.2 rating that actually lives up to the hype – was how it nailed the basics without any fuss. The rooms are compact but spotless, with these crisp white linens that feel like they’ve been ironed by someone’s nonna (and yeah, the AC hummed quietly enough that I slept through the night, even with windows cracked for that faint evening breeze carrying hints of olive trees from nearby gardens). Wi-Fi was blazing fast – I streamed a whole episode of that Italian crime show while planning my day trip to Lake Garda, no buffering at all. Check-in was a breeze; the owner chatted me up about the best bus route to Porta Nuova station (it’s like a 15-minute ride, super handy for trains to Venice), and they even tossed in tips on avoiding the crowds at Juliet’s House. Not everything’s perfect, well – the bathroom’s on the snug side, so if you’re tall like me, you might bump your elbows a bit, but it’s clean as a whistle. Breakfast isn’t some lavish spread, but that simple setup with espresso and pastries in the common area? It hits the spot, especially when you’re fueling up for a day exploring Verona’s Roman ruins.
Look, if you’re after that authentic Verona experience without the overpriced fluff of the big chains, AMBRA CITY HOUSE is your spot. It’s got this unpretentious charm that makes you feel like you’re staying with friends – quiet evenings where you can hear distant church bells instead of tour groups shouting, and it’s affordable enough to splurge on a proper dinner at a trattoria in Borgo Roma (try the risotto all’amarone; it’s divine). I left wishing I’d booked an extra night – seriously, in a city that can feel overwhelming, this place is a cozy anchor. Whether you’re solo tripping or with a partner, it’ll make your Verona memories that much sweeter.

Exceptional value, clean and great location – Ciara from Ireland – 22 April 2025 (10/10)
Clean, more spacious than expected, excellent location, the owner was very, very helpful. We accidentally left out key inside one night and stefano came down and helped us within 20 minutes. Would absolutely stay again. Beautiful beautiful apartment
What could be improved: It's a little bit of a walk to a bus stop with not much footpath which didn't bother us as there wasn't much traffic but might bother someExceptional – Nataliia from Slovakia – 11 February 2025 (10/10)
Wonderful, cozy, clean, comfortable. The apartment has everything you need. Comfortable bed. The kitchen is well equipped. It's nice that there was coffee. And even though it was cold outside – the apartment is warm. I recommend it at any time of the year) We liked the location. We walked to the center for 30-40 minutes. The owner is always in touch – it's convenient.
A glorious stay in a colorful environment! – Melinda from Netherlands – 8 September 2024 (9/10)
The apartment is very clean and organized! There are coffee ☕️ at your disposal and some practical amities as well. What I found so helpful are the two adaptors for mobile phones which I rarely find in other hubs.
The small decorations gave a homely touch 🥰.
The owner (Stefano) was very kind to help me with my Taxi reservation .
I highly recommend the place.

The apartment was spacious and had all the amenities. Nearby, free parking. The bed was also very comfy. The hosts were also very nice and quick to answer any messages we had. Since it's a residential area, it was nice and quiet.
It's true that the location is outside of Verona, about a 10-12 minute drive. We didn't take the bus, but supposedly there was one. If you will be traveling around going to other towns, lake garda, wineries, etc. it's perfect, but if you want to be able to walk to Verona or be there instantly, not the case.
What could be improved: The location could be a bit nicer, it's on the outskirts and mainly residential, so there's not a lot around within walking distance, but no fault of the apartment itself or the hosts.
Also would have been nice to have a few more coffee pods for the morning.Superb – Leona from Czech Republic – 9 May 2025 (9/10)

Danke Stefano!

What could be improved: Poche finestreExceptional – Mara from Italy – 8 December 2024 (10/10)
Location perfetta – Marco from Italy – 24 November 2024 (10/10)
In un piccolo spazio c'era tutto ben distribuito
