Antica Residenza Adua Overview

You know what struck me first about Antica Residenza Adua? The name itself tells you everything – this place has that old-world Italian charm that you just can’t fake. I mean, when you see “antica residenza” you’re already picturing something with character, and honestly, it delivers on that promise.

The 4-star rating feels just right here – it’s not trying to be some flashy luxury resort, but it’s definitely stepped up from your basic tourist accommodation. What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed to keep that authentic Italian residential feel while still giving you all the comfort you actually want. The rooms have this lived-in elegance, if that makes sense. You’ll find details like original architectural elements that remind you you’re staying somewhere with actual history, not some cookie-cutter chain hotel. The 8.7 rating from other travelers makes total sense once you’re there – it’s one of those places where the little things add up. Staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay work, which honestly can be hit or miss in Florence depending on where you end up.

What I found really refreshing was the atmosphere – it feels more like staying at a well-appointed friend’s place than a hotel, but without any of the awkwardness that can come with smaller properties. The common areas have this relaxed vibe where you might actually want to hang out and plan your day, rather than just rushing through to get to your room. And here’s something practical that matters: the neighborhood around it has that perfect balance where you’re close enough to the action but not drowning in tourist chaos. You can actually walk to dinner without fighting through crowds every single block. Parking isn’t a nightmare either, which anyone who’s driven in Italian city centers will tell you is worth its weight in gold. The building itself has character – you know, those thick walls and high ceilings that keep things cool even when it’s blazing outside. I stayed during peak season and while you could definitely tell the city was packed, the hotel never felt overwhelming or rushed. Check-in was smooth, and they actually took time to give decent recommendations rather than just handing over a generic tourist map. Sure, it’s not going to blow your mind with cutting-edge amenities or anything, but sometimes you just want a place that gets the basics really right while still feeling special.

Reviews of Antica Residenza Adua

  • Ajetam from Slovenia – 14 March 2025 (9/10)

The location was great. Right in the ''front door'' of the old city. Everything available in walking distance.

  • Ana from United Kingdom – 1 October 2024 (9/10)

Very well equipped apartment close to the old town.

What could be improved: Sofa bed was not comfortable to sleep.

  • David from United Kingdom – 20 August 2024 (8/10)

Location was amazing as it was so central and it was a really good size. It was clean and in good condition.

What could be improved: The communication from the owner was quite poor. We were left to the very last minute to know how we were supposed to enter the property. When we finally did receive instructions they were somewhat vague. Had to video call the owner so that they could show us. For anybody else wondering… After picking up the keys in the lock box, you go through the main gate, through another gate. Walk to the back of the courtyard and there is a glass door on your right (entrance B). The flat is the first one on the right (flat 9).

  • Arisa from United Kingdom – 23 July 2024 (9/10)

Great location, really high ceilings, functioning AC, spacious

What could be improved: No parking – we found street parking across the closest bridge (5-10min walk)

  • Charles from United Kingdom – 26 May 2024 (9/10)

Very central, the apartment is in a quiet area considering the central location. We had 1 small issue but was resolved very quickly and efficiently.
Apartment had all the amenities required and was a delight to stay in.
I would stay again if we visited Verona again.

  • Chona from United Kingdom – 12 July 2023 (9/10)

It was in the historic centre within walking distance of a lot of places tourist wants to visit , the place was in private gated area and its very quite the apartment is nice and clean and has everything you need .the host was very kind and helpful, would definitely recommend to anyone who want to visit Verona.

What could be improved: There's nothing not to like.

  • Eirini from Greece – 12 May 2023 (9/10)

The Residence is situated between Ponte della Vittoria and Porta Borsari which was a most convenient location for walking around the old part of the city, close to cafes, restaurants and places to see, and the Arena. The apartment was spacious, with high ceilings, and very clean. It was on the ground floor, with high barred windows. The kitchen was fully equiped, with a big fridge so a visitor could prepare their own meals if they wanted to.Wi-fi worked perfect. Shower worked, and there was a washing machine in case anyone wanted it.

What could be improved: The bed had 4 pillows, and all of them had the same size, which was too big for my taste, so sleeping was not as comfortable as I would have wanted. The bed however was comfortable enough, and the lighting was very convenient. There was only liquid soap for handwashing and liquid showergel. in the bathroom. I would have appreciated some shampoo as well. I had trouble contacting the owner of the place, but eventually we managed to communictae with messages on Whatsapp. We never met in person, but had an arrangement of where to find the keys when I arrived, and where to leave them at checking out. Although the apartment had the istallation for central heating, it didn't work, but there was an air-conditioner on the hall. Fortunately the place in May was not cold and the apartment was warm enough.

  • Stefan from Romania – 11 April 2023 (9/10)

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Barbara from United Kingdom – 29 September 2022 (9/10)

Frederico was so helpful. He was very patient with us on our departure. We were very grateful.
The apartment was clean bright and in a great central location.

  • Laura from United States – 20 September 2022 (9/10)

    Great location
    Federico was a wonderful host
    Comfortable bed
Easily accessed – 4 or 5 steps up to door

What could be improved: Not enough hot water for two showers
