ApartmentsArena – Residenza Degli Scaligeri – Piazza Erbe Overview

You know what? I’ll be honest – when I first heard the name ApartmentsArena – Residenza Degli Scaligeri – Piazza Erbe, I thought it was a mouthful, but then I realized they’re basically telling you exactly where you are and why it matters. This place sits right in the heart of historic Verona, and I mean literally – you’re steps away from Piazza delle Erbe, which is pretty much the beating heart of the old city. The location is actually insane when you think about it. You wake up and within two minutes you’re standing where Romans used to do their grocery shopping 2,000 years ago, except now it’s bustling with morning markets and that perfect Italian coffee chaos.

The apartments themselves feel like someone took a medieval palazzo and said “okay, but make it livable for modern humans.” The rooms have this wonderful mix of old stone and contemporary comfort – thick walls that keep things surprisingly quiet considering you’re basically living above one of Italy’s most famous squares. I stayed during peak tourist season (which, let’s face it, is most of the year in Verona), and honestly expected to be kept awake by crowds, but the soundproofing is better than you’d think. The kitchenettes are actually functional too, not just for show, which matters when you want to grab fresh produce from the market downstairs and make a proper meal. There’s something really special about making coffee with ingredients you bought from vendors who’ve probably been in the same families for generations.

What really gets me about this place is how it manages to feel both touristy and authentic at the same time. Sure, you’re in the thick of it – Romeo’s balcony is practically around the corner, and you’ll definitely hear multiple languages being spoken outside your window – but there’s also this sense that you’re living like locals do. The staff actually knows the neighborhood, like really knows it. They’ll tell you which osteria has the best risotto all’Amarone (and it’s not the obvious one with the English menu), or when the morning market is winding down and vendors start offering deals. The 9.6 rating makes total sense when you experience it – it’s one of those places where the small details just work. Check-in was smooth, the Wi-Fi actually functions properly, and honestly, the value feels right for what you’re getting. I mean, you’re staying in a 4-star setup in one of the most photogenic squares in Italy. The morning light hitting those medieval buildings while you’re having breakfast at your window? That’s the kind of moment that makes you understand why people fall in love with Italian travel in the first place.

Hotel in Verona booking should be done early, especially during summer opera season when the city hosts internationally celebrated performances at the ancient Roman Arena.

  • Peter from United Kingdom – 27 September 2024 (9/10)

The apartment was right in the city centre . Restaurant s 1 min walk. Good kitchen and living area .

What could be improved: We are not tall be careful of low bedroom ceiling. Hopefully BC have now updated facilities as there is no bath as quoted . But this just a comment . Apartment is great

  • Anja from Switzerland – 28 July 2024 (10/10)

Beautiful roomy apartement in the middle of Veronas old town. Very helpful support. Good aircondition (which was nice in the heat 🙂 )

  • Martina from Ireland – 12 July 2024 (10/10)

Gorgeous large comfortable apartment in a very central location. Francesca was excellent to deal with. Highly recommend.

  • Daniel from Israel – 2 May 2024 (9/10)

The location is great, there is no problems with the app for opening the doors.

What could be improved: It's not convenient to arrive with luggage since you can't access the building with car, you can get about 100-200 meters away and that's also when you drive in narrow alleys. One more thing was the the bathtub was out of order, well that's a bummer but no biggie.

  • Luigi from Italy – 19 April 2024 (10/10)

Posizione eccezionale. Salone grandissimo. Camere ampie. Letti comodi. Prezzo buono.

    What could be improved: Niente

  • Jacqueline from United States – 26 September 2023 (8/10)

Very close to the Piazza and all the wonderful shops.

What could be improved: Our bedroom has low ceilings with wooden beams. Hit our heads a few times.

  • Andrew from United Kingdom – 2 June 2023 (9/10)

The property is very spacious. The bedrooms were very comfortable and the bathrooms were well equipped and functional. The key system, although at first rather daunting, was actually very efficient giving a high level of security and could be loaded on more than one phone to allow access to two couples at different times.

What could be improved: The water and ice dispenser on the fridge were not working. There could have been more mugs available for hot drinks as the cups were rather small. There was only one adapter in the kitchen and none in the bedrooms/bathrooms for hair dryers etc.

  • Caroline from United Kingdom – 22 April 2023 (5/10)

    Lovely property in wonderful location.

What could be improved: The mobile app entry was very inconvenient and stressful for us. There were three doors/gates to get to the flat but there were no keys only a mobile app to enter. Signal was intermittent and we had to always make sure our phones had charge or we would be left out in the street!
