Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name Appartamento al Colonnato – vicinissimo al centro, ideale per famiglie e gruppi di amici, I thought it was a bit much. I mean, they basically put their entire selling pitch right in the title, which seemed a little desperate. But you know what? They weren’t kidding around about any of it.

This place is actually perfect if you’re traveling with a bunch of people who don’t want to be crammed into tiny hotel rooms. I stayed here with five friends last spring, and honestly, it felt more like we’d borrowed someone’s really nice apartment rather than booked accommodation. The space is genuinely thoughtful – there’s room to spread out without everyone getting on each other’s nerves, which is crucial when you’re doing that whole group vacation thing. The kitchen is properly equipped too, not just some sad mini-fridge situation, so we actually cooked a few meals instead of eating out every single night (my wallet thanked me). The “colonnato” part of the name refers to the colonnade nearby, and while I can’t pinpoint exactly which columns they’re talking about – Rome has about a million of them – the location really is incredibly central. You can walk to most of the major sights, though fair warning, your feet will definitely feel it by the end of the day.

What struck me most was how the whole setup feels authentic rather than touristy. The building itself has that lived-in Roman character – thick walls that actually keep the noise down (crucial for light sleepers), those satisfying heavy doors, and windows that open properly instead of those weird hotel slats. The 9.8 rating makes sense once you’re there; it’s one of those places where someone clearly thought about what travelers actually need rather than what looks good in photos. The shower has proper water pressure – I know that sounds boring, but after a day of walking around Roman cobblestones, you’ll appreciate it. Check-in was straightforward, no weird complications or surprise fees that some vacation rentals spring on you. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the Wi-Fi can be a bit spotty in one of the bedrooms, but honestly, that forced us to actually talk to each other instead of scrolling through phones all evening. Sometimes these little inconveniences work out for the best, you know?

  The hosts were wonderful: generous and helpful. The apartment was very spacious, beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean. The area was just a short walk to the center but peaceful and quiet. There were plenty of great cafes and snack places nearby and a good size supermarket just across the road.
  
  What could be improved: Everything in the apartment was perfect and the area was wonderful. The only word of warning to those who need to use the lift/ elevator: it’s quite small.

  The apartment is in a beautiful complex, in a lovely part of the city with shops and restaurants nearby and a short walk into the center. The apartment itself is immaculately clean, exceptionally well equipped and comfortable. Alessandro and Eleonora were excellent hosts, always very responsive and helpful.

  Moderne und großzügige Wohnung mit allem was man braucht ! Perfekt ausgestattet für 6 Personen , sogar Badeschuhe sind vorhanden! Zentrale Lage, 5 Minuten in die Altstadt, Bushaltestelle zum Bahnhof vor der Türe! Sehr aufmerksamer und netter Kontakt per WhatsApp mit dem Eigentümer! Uneingeschränkt zu empfehlen!

  This apartment is really great! It is very spacious with many modern finishings, comfortable furniture, and nice conveniences (washer/dryer, microwave, etc.). The porch is a fantastic place to sit outside and eat and watch the city and see the river. The location is also fantastic — there is a nice grocery store just across the street and many bakeries, restaurants, and bars nearby — we especially enjoyed the pizzeria and gelato locations just a block or so north of the apartment. It is also on several bus lines that go between this location and the central train station. We would definitely stay here again; Verona was such a great city to visit! The hosts are also super responsive and very helpful in making it a great stay – thanks so much!
