Appartamento cittadella Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first stumbled upon Appartamento cittadella, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect from a 3-star apartment-style place. But you know what? Sometimes the best discoveries happen when you’re not overthinking things, and this turned out to be one of those pleasant surprises that makes you feel like you’ve found a little secret.
The thing about staying in an apartment versus a traditional hotel is that you actually get to live like you belong somewhere, even if it’s just for a few days. Here, you’ve got proper space to spread out – I mean, after months of cramped hotel rooms, having a real kitchen where you can make morning coffee without those tiny pods felt like luxury. The setup is pretty straightforward but thoughtful, with everything you actually need rather than a bunch of fancy stuff you’ll never touch. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets in the evenings – you know how some places feel like you’re sleeping next to a highway? Not here. The 8.2 rating makes total sense once you settle in, because while it might not have all the bells and whistles of those flashy chain hotels, it delivers on the things that actually matter when you’re trying to get some rest and feel at home.
The location works really well if you’re the type who likes to wander around and discover things naturally rather than being stuck in some tourist bubble. I found myself walking to little cafés and shops that I probably would’ve missed if I’d been staying somewhere more centrally located but completely generic. Honestly, the whole experience reminded me why I prefer places with a bit of character over those cookie-cutter hotels where every room looks identical. The check-in process was refreshingly straightforward too – no hovering bellhops or lengthy presentations about spa services you don’t want. Just practical information and genuine helpfulness when you need it. If you’re looking for somewhere that feels more like borrowing a friend’s place than staying in a hotel, and you don’t need someone making your bed every morning, this could be exactly what you’re after.
To book a hotel in Verona during major cultural festivals, travelers need early planning as this romantic city draws visitors eager to experience its Shakespearean heritage and medieval charm.

Super central and comfortable. Loved the double sink in the bathroom. Communication between the host was great.
What could be improved: There was no hand soap in the bathroom and no tea towels provided for the kitchen.. made it a bit hard when cooking/cleaning. Could do with more wine glasses & mugs.Melpomeni from Greece – 23 November 2024 (9/10)
We loved it, it was close to the city center and the owner was very helpful with the whole process.
What could be improved: Just a tad cold as an apartment.Joao from Ireland – 23 July 2024 (7/10)
It's very well located, the apartment is huge and it was very clean. Good kitchen, good rooms, and the best part is that it has a lift, and since we are traveling with my grandma, and she is old and has knee problems, it was very helpful.
What could be improved: It was part of my mistake as well to do not check and confirm it 100% before booking, but we always assume that the place will have A/C inside the rooms. This place DOESN'T HAVE. And coming to Italy, during the summer, it's impossible to sleep without an individual A/C per room. We all had three very difficult nights here, sweating a lot. There is only one A/C in the house, and it is on top of the toilet in the hallway, so if you want a LITTLE BIT of cold air the room doors have to stay open the whole time, and you dont have any privacy. The bathtub is also very old, and quite difficult to shower without getting the whole toilet wet.Anne from New Zealand – 1 July 2024 (8/10)
What could be improved: The shower is quite small and takes a while to drain

The location of the property was really great it’s close to all tourist attractions as well as restaurants and bars.
It was also close to the bus stop from the airport so we didn’t have to travel far with our luggage. Apartment is nicely decorated and has a vintage Italian vibe. Place was very clean. It had an elevator which is a plus if you have heavy luggage. Host is responsive when you message them.
What could be improved: The shower was one of the biggest downsides. It is essentially just a shower head in an open bath. There is no door or shower curtain to stop water from spilling over to the floor so we had to use quite a lot of towels every day to keep the floor dry (there was 5 of us bearing in mind). The host did provide plenty of towels which was helpful.
We requested early check in but the host wasn’t able to accommodate this (she did say it was subject to availability). It would’ve been nice to be able to just place our luggage in the apartment even if it wasn’t ready yet just to be able to make the most of time. We were told that it would be possible to drop off our luggage but the host didn’t specify it would be just in the middle of the hallway outside the apartment door. In the end we did not feel this was secure and so we took our luggage with us.
Also please be aware of tourist tax that needs to be paid which was €2,50 per person per day. This is a bit nitpicky but it would be nice if the host could message first with these types of details before arriving at the apartment as it gives a better first impression.Gideon from United States – 9 January 2024 (7/10)
Location was absolutely perfect. Close to everything in town, stores, restaurants and transportation.
What could be improved: The one deceiving part is that the photos showed 2 bathrooms and one with a shower. Unfortunately it only had one bathroom with only a bathtub. This was challenging for us with 3 kids.Klimentina from North Macedonia – 26 October 2023 (9/10)
The apartment was very spacious, clean and had everything that we needed for our short stay in Verona. The beds were comfortable, we had a lot of storage space. The location was perfect.
What could be improved: We didn't have clear instructions for check-in. If we didn't have an internet connection, it would have been a big deal, because the address wasn't the same as described on booking, we received a message from the owner after we arrived at the address we thought was the right one. It wasn't far but it would have been better to have clear instructions a few days before arrival.Ian from Australia – 30 August 2023 (8/10)
Good location
What could be improved: It was clean and comfortable but a little dated.Allen from Italy – 20 August 2023 (9/10)
Great location near the Arena. Clean and comfortable.
What could be improved: Nothing.Kate from United Kingdom – 14 August 2023 (8/10)
Great location and very clean
What could be improved: The shower gave a weak flow of water and was not properly secured to the wall, and could only be used as a handheld.
