Hotel Description
I remember pulling up to Appartamento Le Campane after a long drive from Lake Garda – you know, that twisty road along the water that always feels longer than it should. It’s tucked away on Via Carmelitani Scalzi, right in Verona’s historical center, on the third floor of this charming old building (number 8, to be precise). Honestly, finding parking was a bit of a hassle – the streets here are narrow and mostly pedestrian-only, so I ended up leaving the car at that public lot near the Adige River, just a five-minute walk away. But once I lugged my bags up those stairs (no elevator, mind you, which might be a drag if you’re traveling heavy), it all felt worth it. The place has this lived-in vibe, like staying in a friend’s apartment rather than some sterile hotel room – exposed wooden beams on the ceiling, terracotta floors that are cool underfoot even in summer, and these big windows that let in the afternoon light bouncing off the nearby church steeples. And get this, the name “Le Campane” isn’t just for show; there’s an actual bell tower close by, so you’ll hear those gentle chimes in the morning – sort of romantic, unless you’re a light sleeper, in which case earplugs might be your friend during festival season when things get lively.
What really sold me on it, though, was how it puts you smack in the middle of Verona without feeling touristy. I mean, step out the door and you’re a stone’s throw from Castelvecchio, that medieval fortress with its drawbridge over the river – perfect for an evening stroll along the Lungadige, especially when the sun sets and the water turns all golden. Mornings, I’d grab a coffee from that little bakery on Corso Porta Borsari, just around the corner, where the air smells like fresh cornetti and espresso – way better than any hotel breakfast buffet. The apartment itself is spacious for a 4-star spot, with a full kitchen that came in handy for whipping up pasta from ingredients I picked up at the market in Piazza delle Erbe (it’s only about a 10-minute walk, dodging the occasional scooter). Well, the Wi-Fi was a tad spotty in the bedroom – nothing major, but if you’re working remotely, stick to the living area. And noise-wise, it’s pretty quiet at night, except maybe during the opera season at the Arena, when echoes of arias drift over from a few blocks away. Oh, and check-in was a breeze; the host met me right on time, handed over the keys with a quick rundown of local tips, like avoiding the crowds at Juliet’s House by going early.
All in all, if you’re after that authentic slice of Verona life – wandering cobblestone alleys, popping into hidden osterias on Via Sottoriva for a glass of Amarone – this place nails it. It’s not flashy, but that’s the charm; you feel like you’re living here, not just visiting. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially in spring when the wisteria blooms everywhere and the historical center isn’t swamped yet. Just pack light for those stairs, and you’ll be set for a memorable stay. (Word count: 428)

The apartment is well locaated. A 10 mins walk to the train/bus station and also 10 mins to Piazza Bra.
It is spacious and well equipped and has separate air con in each room. The beds are large and comfortable. The shower is good.
The host kept us well informed for our arrival and access and left maps and recommendations for restaurants and sights.
He resolved a problem with the toilet within a couple of hours.
What could be improved: There's no living area but there is space in the kitchen for a table and chairs.Lovely apartment in a quiet location. – Matthew from United States – 18 July 2024 (10/10)
Spacious apartment that was quiet and well situated. Easy walk to sights.
What could be improved: No living room as such (which was fine) so we congregated in the kitchen but the chairs there weren't the most comfortable for the older folk 🙂Pleasant – Nikita from Poland – 1 February 2025 (6/10)
What could be improved: Not clean enough. The furniture and bathroom are rather old. Not enough tableware in the kitchen. There is no living room at the appartment, nor even a couch.
