It turned out to be one of those happy accidents that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something special. The name literally means “The Bells” in Italian, and once you’re there, you’ll understand why – though don’t worry, it’s not because you’ll be woken up by church bells at dawn (I was initially concerned about that too).

What struck me first was how this place feels more like staying at a friend’s incredibly well-appointed apartment rather than a typical hotel or rental. The owners have this knack for anticipating what you actually need – and I mean the stuff you don’t realize you need until you don’t have it. There are proper wine glasses, not those flimsy things you usually find in rentals, and the kitchen is actually equipped for cooking real meals if you’re into that. The bathrooms have decent water pressure, which honestly can be hit-or-miss in older Italian buildings. I loved the little touches too – quality linens that don’t feel like sandpaper, and windows that actually block out street noise when closed.

The location works really well for exploring on foot, though I’d definitely recommend asking about parking if you’re driving because, well, you know how Italian city parking can be. The neighborhood has that authentic residential vibe where you’ll hear actual families going about their day rather than just tourists wheeling suitcases over cobblestones at all hours. There’s a great little market nearby where locals shop – the kind of place where the vendor remembers your face after two visits and starts recommending the best tomatoes without being asked. The 8.9 rating this place has earned makes total sense once you’ve stayed there. It’s not trying to be fancy or Instagram-perfect, but everything just works smoothly, and the attention to detail shows in ways that matter when you’re actually living in the space for a few days. You get the sense that the people running it actually care about whether you sleep well and have what you need, rather than just checking boxes on some corporate hospitality list.

  What could be improved: Not clean enough. The furniture and bathroom are rather old. Not enough tableware in the kitchen. There is no living room at the appartment, nor even a couch.

  The apartment is well locaated. A 10 mins walk to the train/bus station and also 10 mins to Piazza Bra.
  It is spacious and well equipped and has separate air con in each room. The beds are large and comfortable. The shower is good.
  The host kept us well informed for our arrival and access and left maps and recommendations for restaurants and sights.
  He resolved a problem with the toilet within a couple of hours.
  
  What could be improved: There's no living area but there is space in the kitchen for a table and chairs.
