But once you’re inside, it’s all worth it – the place smells faintly of fresh linen and whatever pasta sauce is simmering from a nearby trattoria, and the windows let in that golden Italian sunlight that bounces off the terracotta floors.

What really sold me on Appartamento Tosca was how it puts you smack in the middle of Verona’s beating heart without the overwhelming tourist crush. You’re just a short stroll from the Arena di Verona – I mean, I wandered over for an opera one evening and was back in my room sipping espresso by 11 PM. Via Dietro Filippini is this quiet little side street off the busier Via Roma, so during the day you hear the distant hum of scooters and church bells from Santa Anastasia nearby, but come nightfall, it’s surprisingly peaceful, especially in the off-season like early fall when the crowds thin out. The apartment itself is spacious for a couple or small family – think a full kitchen where I whipped up a simple risotto with market finds from Piazza delle Erbe, just a 10-minute walk away. The decor’s got this authentic touch, with exposed beams and vintage prints of the Adige River, and the bed was comfy enough that I slept like a rock despite the occasional early-morning delivery truck rumbling by. Sure, the Wi-Fi can be spotty if you’re streaming, but who needs that when you can people-watch from your balcony overlooking the alley? And let’s be real, at an 8.9 rating, it’s not perfect – the bathroom’s a tad compact if you’re tall like me – but it feels lived-in, you know? Not some sterile chain hotel.

All in all, if you’re the type who wants to immerse yourself in Verona’s romantic soul – wandering to Juliet’s balcony or crossing Ponte Pietra at sunset – this is your spot. It’s not flashy, but that’s the charm; it lets the city shine. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially in spring when the wisteria blooms along the nearby walls and everything feels even more magical. Just remember to book ahead during festival season, or you’ll miss out on that insider feel.

  Amazing location. Everything is within walking distance. We traveled with kids, ages 5 and 9 and didnt have any difficulties walking around and checking all amenities. Apartment is very tidy, with all appliances that you might need. Parking is 5min walking away and its very easy to reach.
