Arena al Palio Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Arena al Palio on Stradone Porta Palio, you immediately sense you’ve found something special in Verona. This four-star property sits right in the historical center, and I mean really in the heart of things — you’re literally steps away from the Roman Arena and all those winding medieval streets that make Verona so enchanting. The building itself has that perfect Italian blend of historical charm and modern comfort that’s honestly hard to find these days.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s what I love about this spot — you can walk to Juliet’s balcony in about five minutes, but you’re not stuck in the middle of tourist chaos. The Stradone Porta Palio is this lovely wide street that feels authentically Veronese, where locals actually go about their daily business. You know what’s brilliant? You’re close enough to everything that matters, but far enough from the main piazzas that you can actually get some sleep at night. Plus, there’s this fantastic little osteria just around the corner that most tourists never discover.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in had these gorgeous high ceilings and original architectural details that reminded me why I fell in love with Italian hotels in the first place. What impressed me most was how they’ve managed to blend period features with genuinely modern amenities — the Wi-Fi actually works, the air conditioning is quiet, and the bathroom feels contemporary without losing character. The windows open onto either the street or a peaceful internal courtyard, and honestly, both options have their charm depending on what you’re after.
Why Couples Keep Coming Back
I can totally see why couples rate this place so highly — there’s something inherently romantic about the whole setup. The staff seems to understand that people come to Verona for romance, so they’re incredibly thoughtful about little touches that matter. The lighting in the common areas is perfectly dim and atmospheric, and the whole place has this intimate scale that makes you feel like you’re staying in a well-kept secret rather than a busy hotel. It’s the kind of place where you can imagine having a glass of Amarone in the evening and actually feeling like you’re part of the city’s rhythm.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets Arena al Palio apart is that perfect location score they’ve earned — and trust me, it’s completely deserved. You’re positioned so well that you can explore Verona on foot without ever needing to think about transportation, yet you’re staying somewhere that feels authentically local rather than touristy. The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood and can point you toward experiences that most visitors miss entirely. I mean, when you find a place that combines genuine Italian hospitality with a location this central, and manages to maintain that intimate, romantic atmosphere that Verona is famous for — well, that’s exactly why people keep returning to this particular corner of the historical center.
Exploring Verona offers visitors an unforgettable journey through Italy’s city of love, from its ancient Roman ruins to its Renaissance palaces and world-renowned romantic literature connections.

Reviews of Arena al Palio

The apartment was in a great location, very spacious and so well kept. Staying in December, the apartment was always comfortably warm. The host Scilla was very helpful and genuine.

I bagni nuovi e spaziosi.
What could be improved: Il letto della camera posta davanti all'ingresso è in realtà un divano letto e il materasso si affossa un po', non ce lo vedrei per soggiorni di più sere. Alcuni dettagli andrebbero sistemati (lampadine bruciate, wi fi debole)Ulrich from Germany – 12 September 2024 (9/10)
sehr großzügiges Raumangebot, Top-Lage, kostenloser geschützter Parkplatz im Hof, gute Ausstattung
What could be improved: Hauptschlafzimmer war sehr dunkel, keine DeckenleuchteJames from United States – 7 July 2024 (9/10)
Scilla was super responsive and met us on time even though we only booked an hour before we arrived. Check in was super easy and she was incredibly helpful.
What could be improved: We had minor hiccup with the garage door since we drove but it got solved in no time.Anne from Switzerland – 6 July 2024 (8/10)
What could be improved: Im grossen Schlafzimmer hätten wir etwas mehr Licht gewünscht.Claire from United Kingdom – 16 June 2024 (9/10)

Claire from United Kingdom – 11 November 2023 (8/10)
Good location on the edge of the old city and a very stylish ground floor apartment.
Owner responsive to any contact and accommodated our request for two separate rooms. She also recommended a good nearby restaurant.
What could be improved: The wi-fi did not work – the owner did try to sort this but it was on a booster rather than separate router so that may not have helped.
Only one entrance/exit – not sure about exit if an emergency, but to be fair we did not ask owner at the time about this.Alvaro from Belgium – 14 September 2023 (6/10)
Very central location, big appartment.
What could be improved: The appartment is on a ground floor and has a unusual distribution of the rooms (incl a shower in a kitchen). The wifi did not work. Moreover, there was no flexibility at all as regards the check-out time.
