Hotel Description

I remember stumbling upon the Arena Concert Concerto Love – Historic House Amorino at “Palazzo Tiolo” Palace almost by accident last summer, right in the heart of Verona’s old town on Via San Salvatore Vecchio. I’d just come from wandering around the Arena di Verona – you know, that massive Roman amphitheater where they do those epic opera nights in July and August – and honestly, after dodging the crowds on Via Mazzini, turning onto this quieter side street felt like stepping back in time. The building itself is this gorgeous 16th-century palace, all faded frescoes and heavy wooden doors that creak just a bit when you push them open. It’s tucked away enough that you don’t hear the constant hum of tourists spilling out from Piazza delle Erbe, but close enough – like, a five-minute stroll – to grab a gelato at that little spot on Via Cappello (yeah, the one near Juliet’s House, though I always skip the balcony crowds; it’s overrated anyway). Parking? Well, forget it if you’re driving; the historic center’s a nightmare for cars, so I left mine at the underground lot near Castelvecchio and walked the rest. But once you’re inside, that sense of history hits you – the air smells faintly of old stone and polished wood, and there’s this courtyard with ivy climbing the walls that makes you want to linger with a coffee in the morning.

What really sold me on the place, though – and it’s got that solid 4-star vibe with a 9.7 rating for a reason – is how they’ve turned this ancient palazzo into something cozy without losing the charm. My room was up a flight of those narrow, worn marble stairs (no elevator, fair warning if you’re hauling luggage; I mean, it’s historic, so pack light), but oh man, the views out over the rooftops toward the Adige River were worth it. The bed was plush, with these crisp linens that felt like they were ironed by hand, and there was even a little balcony where I sipped prosecco while listening to distant church bells – San Salvatore’s right nearby, actually, and they chime softly in the evenings. Breakfast is served in this sunlit atrium, nothing fancy but spot-on: fresh cornetti, local cheeses, and coffee that’s strong enough to wake you up for a day of exploring. I chatted with the owner, this friendly Veronese guy who pointed out hidden gems like the tiny osteria on Via Sottoriva for aperitivo – beats the tourist traps hands down. It’s not perfect; the Wi-Fi can be spotty in the thicker-walled rooms, and during opera season, you might hear faint echoes from the Arena if your window’s open, but that’s part of the magic, right? Sort of immersive, like you’re living the city’s rhythm.

Look, if you’re heading to Verona and want more than just a generic hotel stay, this spot at Palazzo Tiolo is where it’s at. It’s got that authentic Italian soul – think less chain-hotel sterility and more like crashing at a stylish friend’s historic pad. I’ve stayed in fancier places, but none made me feel as connected to the city. Whether you’re here for a romantic weekend (the name’s got “Love” and “Amorino” for a reason, after all) or just soaking up the Shakespeare vibes – Romeo and Juliet’s turf, you know – you’ll leave raving about it. Just book early; it fills up fast in high season.

This newly renovated apartment was absolutely perfect! The kitchen was top-notch, the bedroom was cozy and comfortable, and the living area was flooded with natural light. The bathroom was fantastic, and the washer/dryer was a lifesaver. Easy walking distance to shops and areas of interest. Our incredible host, Roberto, went above and beyond, providing a welcome gift of Prosecco and whiskey. We couldn't have asked for a better experience!

Spacious, high-tech, glamorous apartment so close to the old town. Very walkable to all the historic sites. Turn right out of the apartment and you reach stunning piazzas and restaurants at every turn. Especially gorgeous at nighttime.

  • Arienne from Netherlands – 19 September 2024 (9/10)

Fantastic location, quiet and two steps away from all the churches!
Musea, etc. Very friendly host, wine in the fridge, super after a Tiring day by car.

What could be improved: I think it was a little expensive.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful apartment in Verona, and it exceeded all our expectations. From the moment of booking to the day we left, every detail was impeccable. Communication with our host, Roberto, was fantastic—he was extremely attentive and truly enhanced our stay.

When we arrived, we were welcomed with music playing automatically, a record player with classic vinyls, and a beautifully climate-controlled, quiet environment with a lovely view of a nearby church. The apartment looks exactly like the photos, but trust me… even better in person! It was an incredible find on Bookings. Spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated, every detail of the apartment was meticulously planned, elevating our experience to another level.

Right in front of the apartment, there’s an osteria where we had the best focaccia in all of Italy. The apartment itself is modern, with well-planned automation, great lighting, and a prime location in the historic center of Verona. It offers excellent value for the price.

We loved our stay so much that we decided to extend it, and Roberto was extremely helpful in making all the necessary arrangements. When we extended our stay, we even met Roberto in person for a few drinks and had an amazing conversation. We had an incredible time in Verona, and this apartment played a significant role in our wonderful experience.

There was not a single negative aspect of our stay. We traveled all over Italy, and this was by far the best place we stayed! My fiancée and I will definitely return and hope to have another memorable stay.

Thank you, Roberto, for making our time in Verona unforgettable. We can’t wait to come back!

Jednoduše vše. Ubytování předčilo naše očekávání. Osvětlení v bytě bylo příjemným překvapením. Hostitel Roberto byl úžasný, se vším bleskově poradil a pomohl. Klidná lokalita. Byl nám umožněn bezplatný pozdější check-out. Opravdu doporučuji.
