I drove in from Lake Garda, and parking was a breeze; they have a secure garage right onsite, which is gold in a city where street spots vanish faster than gelato in July. Walking up, the building looks unassuming – sort of modern apartment vibes with a sleek entrance – but step inside, and it’s like you’ve entered this cozy, elevated oasis. The check-in was smooth as silk; the owner (I think his name was Marco) chatted with me about the best local spots for aperitivo, like that hidden bar on Via Mazzini, and handed over a keycard with a genuine smile – no corporate script here.

What really hooked me was the penthouse feel – “attico” means attic or rooftop in Italian, and yeah, it lives up to that. My room was up on the top floor with this massive terrace overlooking the Adige River winding through the city; mornings were magic, sipping espresso out there while the sun hit the rooftops, and you could smell fresh bread wafting up from the bakery down the street. The decor’s got that understated Italian elegance – think crisp white linens, wooden floors that creak just a little underfoot (in a charming way, not annoying), and a bathroom with rain showerheads that make you linger. It’s a 4-star setup, but the 9.8 rating? Totally earned – everything’s spotless, the Wi-Fi’s lightning-fast for those work emails I couldn’t avoid, and they even stock the minibar with local Valpolicella wines instead of the usual generic stuff. Oh, and noise-wise, it’s blissfully quiet at night; Borgo Roma’s more residential, so no late-night revelers like you’d get near the Arena during opera season. That said, if you’re here in summer, book ahead – Verona gets packed for the festivals, and this place fills up quick. I did notice the elevator’s a bit slow (vintage building quirk), but hey, it adds to the character.

All in all, if you’re plotting a Verona trip and want something that feels authentic without the crowds – well, Attico Mirage is your spot. It’s not flashy, but it’s the kind of place where you wake up refreshed, ready to explore, maybe detour to the Veronafiere fairgrounds if there’s an event (it’s walking distance, actually). I left thinking, you know what, this is how travel should feel – personal, thoughtful, and just a tad magical. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially for that terrace view at sunset.
