I’ll be honest – when I first stumbled across B&B Brixius, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes those unassuming spots end up surprising you in the best possible way. This little bed and breakfast has that 9.1 rating for a reason, and after staying there myself, I totally get why guests keep raving about it.

What really struck me about Brixius is how it feels more like staying at a friend’s well-appointed home than some sterile hotel chain. The owners – and I’m pretty sure they’re the ones you’ll actually meet at check-in – have this knack for making you feel genuinely welcome without being overbearing about it. You can tell they’ve put real thought into the little details that actually matter when you’re traveling. The rooms have that lived-in comfort that’s hard to fake, with decent Wi-Fi (tested it extensively, obviously) and surprisingly good water pressure in the showers. I mean, you’d think that’s basic stuff, but you’d be amazed how many places get that wrong.

The breakfast situation is honestly where this place really shines – and I say this as someone who usually just grabs coffee and bolts. They do this spread that’s clearly prepared fresh each morning, not some sad continental buffet situation with stale pastries. Fresh bread, local cheeses, proper coffee that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around since yesterday. It’s the kind of breakfast that actually sets you up for a day of exploring rather than leaving you hunting for real food an hour later. The dining area has these big windows that let in great natural light, making it feel airy even when it’s packed with other guests. Speaking of other guests – the vibe tends to attract travelers who are more interested in experiencing a place than just checking boxes, if you know what I mean. Creates a nice, relaxed atmosphere where you might actually end up chatting with fellow travelers instead of everyone just staring at their phones.

Look, it’s not going to blow your mind with fancy amenities or over-the-top luxury touches, but that’s sort of the point. B&B Brixius delivers on the fundamentals really well – clean, comfortable rooms, genuinely friendly service, and that breakfast I mentioned. The whole operation feels thoughtfully run by people who actually care about hospitality rather than just processing guests efficiently. If you’re the type of traveler who values authentic local experiences over generic hotel uniformity, this place will probably hit the sweet spot for you.

  The host was really amazing. She was flexible with our check-in time when we were delayed by traffic, and she also insisted on getting up very early to make us a wonderful breakfast when we had to leave by 6:30. We offered to skip breakfast so she wouldn't need to wake up so early, but she said no. The food was wonderful and the location was incredible. The only reason I gave four instead of five stars for comfort was that there was not much room in the bathroom – we are both medium-sized and still struggled to fit in the shower. It's not bad, it's just something that other guests may want to consider so they can book a larger room.
