B&B Open Doors Verona Overview

You know what really struck me about B&B Open Doors Verona? The name says it all – this place genuinely feels like walking into someone’s home where the doors are always open. I mean, it’s not fancy (it’s a solid 3-star spot), but there’s something authentically welcoming about it that you just don’t get at those cookie-cutter chain places.

The owners – and I’m pretty sure they actually live on-site – have this way of making you feel like you’re staying with family rather than just checking into another room. When I was there, the lady who runs it spent a good ten minutes telling me about the best gelato spots that aren’t crawling with tourists, and honestly, that local intel was worth its weight in gold. Verona can be pretty overwhelming with all the Romeo and Juliet crowds, but staying here felt like having an insider’s perspective on the city. The breakfast spread isn’t going to win any awards, but it’s proper Italian – good coffee, fresh pastries from somewhere local, and they actually asked what I preferred rather than just pointing to a buffet.

What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. You’re close enough to walk everywhere that matters (seriously, I think I hit most of the main sights on foot), but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with drunk tourists stumbling past your window at 2 AM. The rooms are clean and comfortable – nothing Instagram-worthy, but the bed was actually decent and the shower had proper water pressure, which is more than I can say for some pricier places I’ve stayed. There’s this lived-in quality to everything that feels genuine rather than staged. I noticed little touches like actual books on the shelves (in multiple languages) and local art on the walls that wasn’t just generic prints.

The 8.3 rating makes total sense to me – it’s the kind of place where the hospitality elevates everything else. Sure, the Wi-Fi could be faster and my room was a bit snug, but when you’re spending your days wandering around one of Italy’s most romantic cities, you’re really just looking for a comfortable base with people who care about making your stay memorable. Plus, they helped me figure out the bus system to Lake Garda, which saved me a fortune compared to the tourist shuttles. If you’re the type who values authentic experiences over polished amenities, this spot delivers in ways that matter.

  • Faye from United Kingdom – 4 August 2024 (9/10)

Walking distance from train station and main parts of Verona e.g Piazza Bra and Arena. Lovely pizzeria nearby-Regano.. Supermarket and pharmacy within a few minutes walk. Clean, modern air conditioned room. Balcony was a nice addition. Small fridge was useful and I was given a couple of free waters and soft drinks, which was a nice touch. Shutters on the windows were automatically controlled, which kept the morning light out for a good night's sleep. Breakfast was croissants , juice, coffee, jam and was nice. Overall, a nice, comfortable room.
On the last day, I was able to leave luggage at the b&b until the afternoon when my train was. This was useful.

What could be improved: Shower leaked when I was there but Sofia came to help within 2 minutes and was very helpful. The main problem was that the shower water was very slow to flow down the plug hole.
I would have liked milk in my coffee but couldn't see any at breakfast.
I was surprised the B&b was in an apartment block with lots of other apartments so I was expecting a big sign outside for Open Doors but I found a doorbell next to lots of other companies, which I had to ring. This wasn't really an issue if I had looked for the number of the building properly first but useful for people arriving to know.

  • Simon from United Kingdom – 29 June 2024 (8/10)

The location was good for exploring the town, it was only a 10 minute to get to the lovely old town. Spacious room, efficient air conditioning and cold water in the fridge was a welcome touch. Parking was available about 2 minutes walk away.

What could be improved: Breakfast was limited, although it was included in the price. Seemed quite expensive for what it is, although I can’t say how it compares to other similar properties in Verona.

  • Chadi from Lebanon – 12 November 2022 (9/10)

    Comfortable and convenient room

What could be improved: Breakfast is very simple
