Best Western Hotel Armando Overview
You know, I stumbled upon the Best Western Hotel Armando almost by accident last spring when I was wandering through Verona’s old town after a long train ride from Milan – I mean, who plans perfectly anyway? Tucked away on Via Dietro Pallone, this place is right in the historical center, just a stone’s throw from the Arena di Verona (you can hear the opera crowds buzzing on summer evenings if you’re out on the street). I remember pulling up in my rental car, sweating a bit because parking in Verona can be a nightmare – but honestly, they have a small lot out back that’s a lifesaver, though it fills up quick during peak season like July when everyone’s flocking to the festivals. Check-in was a breeze; the front desk guy – Marco, I think his name was – chatted me up about the best gelato spot nearby on Via Cappello (that’s the one leading to Juliet’s House, by the way, if you’re into that romantic stuff). The lobby’s got this cozy, unpretentious vibe with worn leather chairs and a faint smell of espresso lingering from the breakfast area – nothing flashy, but it feels like stepping into a friend’s place rather than some sterile chain.
What really won me over, though, was how the hotel just fits into the rhythm of Verona life. My room was on the second floor, overlooking a quiet courtyard – well, quiet except for the occasional scooter zipping down the alley in the mornings, which honestly added to the charm without keeping me up at night. It’s a 3-star spot, so don’t expect marble bathrooms or infinity pools, but the beds are comfy with those crisp white linens that smell freshly laundered, and there’s a little balcony where I sipped my morning coffee watching locals hurry off to work. Breakfast is included and it’s solid – think fresh croissants, prosciutto, and that strong Italian coffee that jolts you awake; I even tried the local cheese they sneak in sometimes. Exploring from here is effortless: you’re a five-minute walk to Piazza Bra for people-watching or grabbing a spritz at one of those outdoor cafes, and if you head down Via Mazzini, you’ve got all the shopping without the tourist crush – though watch out for the pigeons, they’re everywhere. Oh, and a small critique: the Wi-Fi can be spotty in the evenings when everyone’s streaming, but hey, that’s Italy for you – forces you to unplug and actually enjoy the city.
All in all, if you’re looking for a no-fuss base in Verona that doesn’t break the bank but still feels authentic, this is it. I stayed three nights and left wishing for more – it’s got that 8.7 rating for a reason, you know? Perfect for couples or solo travelers who want to dive into the history without the hassle; just book early if you’re coming in high season, or you’ll miss out on that courtyard view. Trust me, after a day trekking to Castelvecchio or the river Adige, collapsing here with a glass of Valpolicella from the mini-bar is pure bliss.

A return visit to a hotel whose location away from the bustle of central Verona we enjoy. Room comfortable and well equipped, breakfast still varied and ample. Restaurant next door provided an excellent dinner.
What could be improved: No negatives.Paulo from Italy – 6 January 2025 (9/10)
Great for the price. Good location, comfortable bed, and a great breakfast.
Daniel from Switzerland – 2 January 2025 (9/10)
Excellent hotel in a peaceful area but still only 10 minutes by foot from the arena and Piazza Bra. A warm welcome, friendly team, spotless and well equipped room. Breakfast is a genuine delight with a wide selection of delicious choices. Thank you for making our Silvester stay a special one.
Elena from Spain – 1 January 2025 (9/10)
The hotel is spotlessly clean, and I mean it! The beds are super comfortable, they even provide memory-foam pillows. The bathroom has almost everything you need, the rest could be got from the reception. Bathrobes and slippers were also provided. Fantastic breakfast though coffee could have been better.
What could be improved: The first impression from the room was a bit negative as the design was so basic, actually there is no design at all, zero efforts was made to make a room cozy which I expected from a hotel in Italy. But when you realise how thoroughly they clean the room and how thoughtful it is equipped, you do not see these flows. Little touch with few decoration would have changed the impression.Akk from Latvia – 30 December 2024 (9/10)
Location, good breakfast, professional staff
What could be improved: There were practically no tv channels in languages other than Italian which is strange in a hotel belonging to an international chain. The ventilation/ heating system was ok for me only because I always use earplugs, even at home. It might be too loud for some people if not using earplugs. There was Alexa set in the room that I certainly do not use but no international tv channels which is more widely used than Alexa, in my opinion…Karen from United Kingdom – 10 November 2024 (9/10)
Convenient location Very good breakfast. Helpful friendly staff

Girls at the reception are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is delicious. We book for one night for Opera and it was hard to find a hotel in the walking distance from Arena. This small cosy place at a quiet street is really a find. Also its not a problem to find a parking at the nearby streets, just collect permit for free parking at the reception.
