Hotel Description
I remember pulling up to the Big House on Via Tonale after a long drive from Lake Garda – you know, that winding road through the hills that always feels longer than it should. It’s tucked into Borgo Trento, this quiet residential pocket of Verona that’s not overrun with tourists like the historic center, but close enough that you’re not missing out. Honestly, the private parking was a lifesaver; in a city like Verona, where streets are narrow and spots are gold, having your own secure spot right at the hotel means no circling blocks or dealing with those pricey garages near Piazza Bra. I arrived in the evening, and check-in was a breeze – the owner greeted me like an old friend, chatting about the best gelato spot just down the street on Via IV Novembre (try the pistachio, it’s unreal). The place feels more like a spacious townhouse than a stuffy hotel, with that warm, lived-in vibe – think creaky wooden floors that echo a bit and big windows letting in the afternoon sun, casting shadows on the exposed brick walls.
What really sold me was how it balances comfort with that authentic Verona feel. The rooms are generous, I mean, “big” is right in the name – mine had a king bed that was ridiculously comfy after a day of wandering, plus a little balcony overlooking the neighborhood gardens, where you can hear birds chirping in the morning instead of traffic noise (though, fair warning, it can get a tad echoey if someone’s chatting loudly downstairs). It’s a 12-minute stroll to the Arena di Verona – I timed it one opera night, dodging the evening crowds on Ponte Pietra and grabbing a spritz at that tiny bar on Via Mazzini along the way. No frills like a pool or spa, but there’s a cozy communal kitchen area where I whipped up espresso from their machine, and the Wi-Fi was solid for streaming. Oh, and if you’re here in summer for the opera festival, book early – the place fills up fast, but it’s blissfully quiet by midnight, unlike spots right in the center that buzz all night. I did notice the bathroom was a bit dated, with those old-school tiles that could use a refresh, but it was spotless and the water pressure? Perfect for washing off the day’s dust.
All in all, if you’re hitting Verona for the sights – Juliet’s balcony is a quick bus ride away, or walk it in 20 – this 4-star gem with its 8.7 rating feels like a smart, no-nonsense choice. It’s not flashy, but that’s the charm; you get that insider feel without the premium price tag. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially for the parking peace of mind and that easy Arena access – just pack light layers for those breezy evenings. Well, unless you’re allergic to stairs; there’s no elevator, but hey, it keeps things characterful.

Great communication on arrival when I tried to get in from the wrong door. Thanks to our host for immediately getting on a video call with me to guide me towards the correct door (which was already in his video and I missed as I fast forwarded the explanations, was totally my fault!).
The air conditioning was great to have!
What could be improved: There was very little not to like. The only thing I can think of is that we missed a bottle opener. I'm there was one in the property once upon a time and it's something really easy to rectify!Teodora from Romania – 16 August 2024 (9/10)
The location of the apartment is great – you can be in the historical city center in just a few minutes walk.
The garage also saves you a lot of stress if you come by car, as everything you want to visit can be reached by foot. There is a supermarket close by and also some nice restaurants.
In the apartment, there is a lot of space and the beds were comfortable and clean. The air conditioning was very useful, as we stayed during a heat wave.
What could be improved: All was good, but maybe the video with instructions was not clear enough in showing which door takes you where and what key to use… And there are several doors that look the same 😀
A dishwasher would also be a nice addition to the kitchen.Dmitriy from United States – 16 July 2024 (9/10)
The location was great, it was easy to walk to the city center and the Arena. The garage was safe and easy. The apartment is big and comfortable, with modern furnishings. The host provided detailed instructions. Highly recommended!
What could be improved: The arrival instructions were quite detailed but could be a bit more clear.Katarzyna from Poland – 9 April 2025 (9/10)

Lokalizacja rewelacyjna, wszędzie można dojść pieszo. Bardzo dobrze nagrany filmik z odbiorem kluczy, położenia garażu itp. Miejsce garażowe jest dodatkowym atutem. A widok z okna przepiękny, nawet w deszczową pogodę.
What could be improved: Nic 😊Giancarlo from Italy – 30 December 2024 (9/10)
