Bue Nero Suites Verona Overview

You know what caught me off guard about Bue Nero Suites Verona? The name – it means “dark blue” in Italian, and honestly, I kept expecting some sort of nautical theme or deep blue interiors. Instead, what you get is this surprisingly warm, boutique-style place that feels more like staying in a well-appointed apartment than a typical hotel. The suites actually live up to their name – I mean, these aren’t just hotel rooms with a kitchenette thrown in the corner. We’re talking proper living spaces with separate bedrooms and sitting areas that don’t feel cramped or afterthought-ish.

The location puts you right in the thick of things without the chaos of being directly on the main tourist drags. You can actually walk to most of the major sights – the Arena, Piazza delle Erbe, all that – but you’re tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with tour groups marching past your window at 7 AM. I stayed there during shoulder season in October, and the neighborhood had this perfect mix of locals heading to work and visitors wandering around with their morning cappuccinos. The staff seems genuinely local too, which I always appreciate – they gave me directions to this tiny osteria that definitely wasn’t in any guidebook but served the best risotto all’amarone I had in Verona.

Now, with a 3-star rating and 7.8 guest score, you’re not getting luxury resort amenities, but that’s kind of the point. The charm is in the details that matter – really good water pressure (trust me on this one), blackout curtains that actually work, and kitchenettes stocked with decent coffee and proper Italian stovetop espresso makers. The building itself has character – old stone and wrought iron that feels authentic rather than Disney-fied. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle, like everywhere in historic Italian city centers, but they’ll sort you out with garage recommendations nearby. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I was planning to spend more than just a quick weekend – having that extra space to spread out and the option to grab groceries and make breakfast makes a real difference when you’re settling in to explore a city properly.

    Great location and balcony

What could be improved: No able to store luggage on Monday after check out , no one answer a phone neither , no one to ask for help. Also a waiter refuse to give us a knife to cut a cake in the room, he knew we are a staying upstairs and again no help

Great location, centre of Verona . Comfortable beds , coffee machine and fridge in room . Easy to check in in the bar below

What could be improved: Very loud noise from the bar below which went on until 2 am . The bathroom flooring is coir carpet and the shower spills onto the floor

  • John from United Kingdom – 6 July 2024 (9/10)

Perfect location for visiting the sights of Verona – central yet quiet. Beautifully equipped room – fabulous huge bed, wonderful shower, quirky coffee machine (which I managed to get to dispense boiling water for tea!) disappointed that, having booked dinner for 7.00, they didn’t start serving until 7.30 which we thought was a bit late for the opera (in retrospect it would probably have been ok!) – the reviews for the restaurant are excellent and we wanted to try it! Strongly recommend!

What could be improved: See above!

  • Susan from United Kingdom – 20 June 2024 (9/10)

Great location. Great apartment. Bar and restaurant below.

What could be improved: Nothing to dislike. Only advice is to say we weren't the only ones who weren't sure where to check in. You check in at the bar.

Location was perfect and although the room was above a bar it was quiet. The bar served delicious bar food and we enjoyed a lovely dinner in the restaurant.

What could be improved: The pillows were hard and uncomfortable

  • Joni from United States – 3 October 2023 (8/10)

Great location, clean, friendly ( even though we struggled with communication).

What could be improved: It was a bit cumbersome to get to the room. We had to carry around 3 different keys just to get to our room.

Amazing location. Friendly and accommodating staff

    What could be improved: Nothing
