Casa Babbuino Overview

You know what really struck me about Casa Babbuino when I first walked in? It’s one of those places that manages to feel both intimate and sophisticated without trying too hard – honestly, that’s rarer than you’d think in Rome. I mean, it’s technically a 3-star property, but the attention to detail here puts some fancier hotels to shame. The lobby has this warm, residential vibe that immediately makes you forget you’re staying in a hotel at all.

What I loved most was how the staff actually seemed to care about your experience. The front desk guy – I think his name was Marco – knew exactly which gelato shop to hit up around the corner (trust me on this one), and when I mentioned I was trying to catch an early train, he sorted out my checkout situation without me even asking. The rooms themselves are what I’d call “thoughtfully compact” – everything you need is there, but it’s not cluttered with unnecessary stuff. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, and I’m usually pretty picky about mattresses. The bathroom was spotless, which honestly can be hit-or-miss even at pricier places in the city.

Here’s the thing that really sold me though – the location puts you right in the heart of everything without the tourist circus atmosphere you get near the major monuments. You can actually walk to most of the sites you want to see, but when you come back in the evening, the neighborhood settles into this lovely, lived-in rhythm where locals are having aperitivo and kids are playing in the small piazzas. I stayed there during shoulder season in October, and Rome was absolutely perfect – not too crowded, great weather, and Casa Babbuino felt like my own little home base for exploring. The 9.2 rating this place has earned makes complete sense to me. It’s the kind of spot where small touches matter more than flashy amenities, and where you feel like you’re experiencing the city rather than just visiting it. If you’re looking for a place that gets the balance right between comfort and authenticity, this is definitely worth considering.

Reviews of Casa Babbuino

  • Ivan from Georgia – 24 March 2025 (10/10)

Good hotel near to center of verona. Cozy rooms.

  • Sophie from United Kingdom – 3 January 2025 (10/10)

    All of it 😍

  • Alexandra from Romania – 7 December 2024 (10/10)

Lovely decor, the room was very large, clean, with a nice view of the terrace, and the bathroom was absolutely splendid. We got a voucher for a breakfast place nearby and communication with the hosts was excellent. Would definitely book again.

  • Jb from United Kingdom – 7 October 2024 (8/10)

Great communication upon booking, friendly check-in staff, large room, great amenities, extremely comfortable pillows, lovely bathroom, cool themed rooms, shared kitchen and garden, easy to locate.

What could be improved: Nothing negative to say, only that the room had two beds pushed together as one, which isn’t always the most comfortable if you want to spread out and sleep more in the middle as a single person, but otherwise, zero issues!

  • Alison from Australia – 6 September 2024 (10/10)

Lovely garden and felt like home.

  • Mario from Germany – 29 July 2024 (10/10)

I visited Casa Babbuino mid July, my first three impressions where immediately positive:
    1. I arrived during the night … it was very easy to get a self check in with super fast and nice communication
    2. Like 5 min / 350m away from the hotel is a public parking space for 5,- a day … there was always a lot of spaces available. Next to this in the streets it might be even possible to park for free .. I am not 100% sure of that
    3. When I arrived at the hotel (the entrance is not so easy to find, because there is no big name in it .. but is this beautiful green door ..) the lobby was already to tasteful arranged .. the next I noticed was the absolutely gorgeous garden … then I entered my room and it was really big, the furniture was classy and new .. large bathroom…
From the hotel to the start of the “old town” it’s like 10-15 min walk .. just one street easy to find. A supermarket is like 200 m away and some restaurants are around the corner. Over all the area is very quiet. With the easy parking options it’s a good starting point to visit locations around Verona .. like lake Garda is a 30 min drive.
Thanks for the nice visited and especially the gin tonic at the end.
    Greetings from Germany,
    Mario

  • Katarzyna from Austria – 29 May 2024 (10/10)

It was new, clean, easy check in

  • Neslihan from Turkey – 22 May 2024 (10/10)

Very comfortable and clean place: Casa Babbuino seems to be designed by experts who are excel at decorating. The garden is very nice, indeed. For example, I am an early bird, and I enjoy morning coffee. I prepared Italian coffee and drank while reading my book in the morning in the garden: peaceful and lovely garden.

  • Irmtraud from Austria – 13 March 2024 (10/10)

Really nice place! Very friendly staff, easy communication with whatsapp, very clean. Information on parking before arrival, very handy. Beautiful little garden to enjoy, as well as a kitchen and a nice indoor common space. A gem in Verona – see you next time again!

What could be improved: Really nothing!

  • Jelena from Serbia – 11 September 2022 (10/10)

Extra friendly staff (plus English-speaking) who go one step beyond to make a guest feel special and provide everything you might need. Cozy, comfortable, tastefully designed and super organized space. For me it was much better than I had imagined based on the photos. One day we came back earlier from the city just to enjoy the house. On top, we very much enjoyed little surprises, such as Netflix channel, how equipped the join kitchen is and that we could pick herbs in the garden, such as mint, thyme and even strawberries and grapes.
