Casa Colibrì nel cuore della città antica Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Casa Colibrì nel cuore della città antica? The name absolutely delivers on its promise – you really are in the heart of the old city, and I mean right in it. The moment you step out the front door, you’re surrounded by those narrow cobblestone streets that have been here for centuries, with laundry hanging between buildings and the kind of worn stone walls that make you want to run your fingers along them. The hummingbird theme (colibrì means hummingbird, by the way) shows up in subtle touches throughout the place – not overdone, just these delicate little artistic nods that actually work.
What I really appreciated was how the 3-star rating doesn’t tell the whole story here. Sure, it’s not luxury, but honestly the 8.6 guest rating makes more sense when you experience it. The rooms have this authentic feel that bigger hotels try to fake – I’m talking about genuine old-world character mixed with the essentials done right. The beds are comfortable (not always a given in historic buildings), and the bathrooms, while compact, have decent water pressure. Actually, let me be real about the trade-offs: if you’re looking for a pool or fancy gym, this isn’t your spot. But if you want to feel like you’re actually living in Italy rather than just visiting a hotel that happens to be there, Casa Colibrì gets it right.
The location is what makes this place special though – you can walk to pretty much everything worth seeing, and I mean actually walk, not that “walking distance” hotels claim when they really mean a 25-minute hike. Early mornings are magical here because you get the old city practically to yourself before the day-trippers arrive. The staff clearly knows the area inside and out too, which matters more than you’d think. They pointed me toward this tiny café around the corner that I never would have found otherwise, and gave me the real scoop on which attractions are worth the crowds and which ones you can skip. One heads up – like most places in historic centers, street noise can be a thing, especially on weekend nights when people are heading home from dinner. But honestly, I found those sounds kind of charming after the first night – it’s part of the whole experience of staying somewhere with actual local life happening around you.
Travelers should reserve a hotel in Verona at least two months ahead for major events like opera performances and wine festivals, ensuring the best rates and prime locations near popular romantic sites.

Reviews of Casa Colibrì nel cuore della città antica
Karla from Chile – 30 December 2024 (8/10)

Locations is excellent. (Can’t highlight this enough)
Looks exactly as the photos and as described.
Small and compact – but perfect for family of three. (The sofa into a Bunk bed was particularly appreciated by our daughter)
Everything needed was at the property, local supermarkets nearby.
washing machine was a plus, also hair dryer and iron!
Overall quite quiet (see below for exceptions to this!)
Really enjoyed our stay
What could be improved: There was building work going on which we were not aware of. Could be noisy in the mornings and difficult to enter and exit property – also made it very dusty.
The fridge was quite loud which was a shame as in same room due to open plan living – think this needs to be looked at!
Backed on to restaurants so could be a bit noisy early and late – but nothing too bad didn’t last long.Elisabeth from Spain – 23 October 2024 (9/10)
El alojamiento estaba muy limpio y se encuentra reformado.
La ubicación es inmejorable.
La amabilidad de la dueña.
What could be improved: El sofá cama.Marina from Italy – 28 September 2024 (9/10)

Love how the apartment is arranged: with the sofa that unfolds into a bunk bed on one side of a wall, and the double bed on the other side, for lots of privacy between beds/rooms. The kitchen was well stocked, and we were happy to find a washing machine too. The bedding and pillows were very comfortable, and the air conditioner worked well. The location is fantastic: 15-20 minutes walk from train station. Around the corner from the beautiful plaza area. Surrounded by restaurants, and one block from a huge supermarket. Nice host who responded quickly to questions.
What could be improved: It was very difficult to read the very long hand-written WiFi code on the wall. Fortunately, the host sent better WiFi instructions.Helen from United Kingdom – 19 July 2022 (9/10)
Clean and modern Perfect location. Easy door access.
What could be improved: Would've preferred a lamp or two as well as bright overhead lights. Not in any way a complaint thoughAnonymous from Lithuania – 27 June 2022 (4/10)
The place is clean and the location is superb
What could be improved: To finish the booking you have to enter a lot of extra info in an external system, even upload a picture of your documents and even a picture of yourself with the document. I have travelled some places and even in Italy but I've never had such weird requirements. I understand the the front of the document is needed for the police registration but it's not clearly stated in the privacy policy of the external site what's the purpose of this. I hope this is GDPR compliant 🙂
Not suitable for travelers who don't have internet access in their phones. You need it to enter the property.
There's not a lot of storage space in the apartment. the wardrobes you see in the pictures are full of extra pillows and cleaning utilities.
Not only the check-in and check-out times are shorter compared to other places I've been by one hour, on the last day of the stay, we've got woken up by the cleaning staff 2 hours before the check-out time. I'm happy that the staff was friendly and there weren't any further misunderstandings. I know that this might've been a human mistake, a one off thing, but it's not pleasant.Liz from United Kingdom – 9 May 2022 (9/10)
Central location and felt safe. Great communication with the owner prior to arrival. We were able to leave our luggage in the apartment while it was being cleaned.
