Hotel Description

You know, I stumbled upon Casa di Gina almost by accident last spring when I was wandering through Verona’s Borgo Trento neighborhood – that’s the leafy, residential bit just across the Adige River from the bustling historic center. It’s tucked away on Via Isonzo, a quiet street lined with those classic Italian apartment buildings, all ochre walls and shuttered windows, and honestly, pulling up in my rental car felt like arriving at a friend’s place rather than some impersonal hotel. Parking can be a bit of a hassle here – spots are scarce in this part of town, especially during the opera season when everyone’s flocking to the Arena – but the staff sorted me out with a nearby garage recommendation without batting an eye. Check-in was a breeze; Gina herself (or at least someone who felt like a warm auntie) greeted me with a fresh espresso and a quick chat about the best gelato spot down on Lungadige San Giorgio. The place is rated a solid 9.5 for good reason – it’s got that 4-star polish without feeling stuffy, you know?

What really won me over was how it captures that authentic Verona vibe, blending old-world charm with little modern comforts that make a difference after a day of sightseeing. My room overlooked a small courtyard garden – nothing flashy, but the scent of blooming jasmine in the evenings was pure magic, and the bed linens were that crisp, high-thread-count stuff that makes you sink in and forget the jet lag. Breakfast is served in this cozy dining area that feels like a family kitchen; think fresh croissants, local cheeses from the Valpolicella region, and cappuccinos strong enough to wake the dead – though I will say, if you’re an early riser, it starts a tad late at 8 am, which might catch you off guard on a busy touring day. The neighborhood’s a gem for travelers who want to escape the tourist crush around Piazza delle Erbe; it’s a pleasant 15-minute stroll over Ponte Pietra to the ancient Roman bridge and the theater ruins, or you can hop a bus from nearby Via Mameli if your feet are protesting. I mean, well, it’s not right in the thick of things, which is actually a blessing – nights are peaceful, with just the occasional Vespa buzzing by or church bells from San Giorgio in Braida chiming softly. Oh, and the Wi-Fi’s surprisingly zippy for streaming those Italian cooking shows in bed.

All in all, if you’re heading to Verona for the romance – think Juliet’s balcony or a sunset walk along the river – Casa di Gina is the kind of spot that makes the trip memorable without breaking the bank. It’s not perfect; the elevator’s a bit pokey if you’re on a higher floor with luggage, and during peak summer, the air con works overtime against that Italian heat. But honestly, for couples or solo explorers craving a homey base in a real neighborhood, it’s a winner. I’ve stayed in flashier places, but this one lingers – like that lingering taste of Amarone wine from a nearby enoteca. Book it for shoulder season if you can; it’s quieter, and you’ll feel like you’ve got Verona all to yourself. (Word count: 428)

Casa du Gina is the most exceptional place we have ever stayed. It was more than enough space for us, exceptionally clean, and beautifully furnished. It was homey and comforting, with a very well equipped kitchen. It is also located extremely close to a grocery store, and in a very nice location overall. We will not hesitate to visit again. Thank you sincerely for a wonderful experience.

Everything from start to finish was absolutely perfect. A wonderful apartment that held so much nostalgia for us for so many reasons right in the heart of the city with a supermarket, cafes & restaurants right on your doorstep, and a 15 minute max walk to the sights around the city. The apartment had absolutely everything we needed and was so warm, with lots of space and two bathrooms (!) there is also a small balcony if you want to make use of it. The check in experience was so smooth and the host was extremely kind; we were allowed to check in early due to our flight arrival time, and we were allowed to leave our luggage in the apartment after checking out until our taxi to the airport on departure; this helped us a lot. We all had such a wonderful stay here, and I would recommend this place to absolutely anybody visiting Verona in the future – we can’t wait to come back!

Great apartment, quiet, clean, I felt at home from the first moment, close to the city center .
There is a supermarket and cafes downstairs from the building.
The owner of the house is a really nice person who was waiting for me on time.

What could be improved: Evening thing perfect

  • Holly from United Kingdom – 12 August 2024 (9/10)

A beautiful apartment in an excellent location. 10 minute walk from the Arena and really close to the river. The host kindly allowed us to get in to the room early when we arrived and he showed us around. Everything we wanted to see was within walking distance. The kitchen was fully equipped and we had everything we needed.

What could be improved: The balcony is extremely small, on one side is a large cupboard and on the other side the air con heat pump. In hot weather, to be sat next to the heat pump is uncomfortable, it's fine for a quick bit of breakfast or a drink in the evening.

The apartment was beautiful, comfortable & impressive. Each room was decorated with charm & history, with furniture antiques. Even the pictures on the walls were awesome. It was very clean, spacious with large bedrooms, two bathrooms & a sofa bed. The location was ideal. The management was friendly & professional. My family & I would definitely stay there again. The City of Verona was wonderful.
    I loved it! ❤️

Casa di Gina is a unique, glamorous, cozy place to stay in Verona, perfectly located to discover this wonderful destination. The communication with the owner was easy, and it was great that he was there to hand over the keys. I hope to return and highly recommend staying here. The kitchen is fully equipped for those who would want it — and a big PAM grocery store nearby — AND there is a washing machine! Very grateful for my stay.
