Hotel Description
I remember stumbling upon Casa di Vittoria almost by accident last spring, when I was wandering Verona’s winding streets after a long train ride from Milan. It’s tucked away on Via Museo, this quiet little side street that’s just a stone’s throw from the bustling Piazza delle Erbe – you know, that lively square with the market stalls and the ancient Madonna Verona fountain. Honestly, finding parking in Verona’s historic center is a nightmare, especially during the opera season in summer when the Arena draws massive crowds, but if you’re on foot or grabbing a taxi from the station (which is only about a 20-minute walk away), it’s a breeze. The building itself has that classic Italian charm – think faded ochre walls and wrought-iron balconies overflowing with geraniums – and when I checked in, the owner, this warm lady named Maria, greeted me with a genuine smile and a quick espresso. No fuss, no long lines; it felt more like arriving at a friend’s place than a hotel. My room was on the second floor, overlooking a tiny courtyard – a bit compact, I mean, the bathroom was snug and the Wi-Fi could be spotty during peak hours, but the bed was comfy with those crisp white linens that smell faintly of lavender, and the air conditioning hummed just enough to drown out the distant scooter buzz from Via Cappello nearby.
What really won me over, though, was how the place captures that authentic Verona vibe without trying too hard. It’s a family-run spot, you see – Maria’s husband handles the breakfast, which is served in this sunlit terrace room with views toward the Adige River (cross the Ponte Pietra bridge, and you’re right there for a sunset stroll). Mornings were my favorite: fresh cornetti, local cheeses, and cappuccinos that actually taste like they’re from a neighborhood bar, not some generic buffet. I spent one afternoon just lounging there after exploring Juliet’s House – it’s literally a five-minute walk down the street, past those touristy love locks, but if you go early, before the crowds hit around 10 a.m., it’s magical. The hotel’s not flashy; it’s three stars, after all, so don’t expect a spa or gym, but there’s a cozy lounge with books on Verona’s history (picked up some tips on hidden spots like the Giardino Giusti gardens, which are a short hike up the hill). And noise-wise, it’s surprisingly peaceful at night – well, except for the occasional church bells from Santa Anastasia nearby, which sort of add to the romance, you know?
Look, if you’re planning a trip to Verona – maybe for the opera festival or just to soak in the Romeo and Juliet lore – Casa di Vittoria is the kind of place that makes you feel like you’ve got the inside scoop. It’s not perfect; the stairs can be a drag if you’ve got heavy luggage (no elevator, classic old building issue), and rates spike in July and August, but at an 8.4 rating, it’s solid value for couples or solo travelers who want to ditch the big chains. I left feeling like I’d actually lived a slice of local life, sipping wine on the balcony as the evening light hit the rooftops. Trust me, skip the overpriced spots near the Arena and settle in here – you’ll thank me when you’re wandering back from a late-night gelato run on Via Mazzini, key in hand, without a worry.

Very good – Anna from Russia – 28 May 2025 (8/10)
The host Luca is really friendly and helpful, he was always in touch with us about any questions. Location is great. Facilities are good, it has almost everything you need.
What could be improved: The only thing is that apartments are not far from the University, so sometimes it could be loud at the street, but I’m sure that in the center the situation is the same.Amazing location and great host! – Camilla from Italy – 21 August 2023 (8/10)
Location was perfect. 10 mins to the centre. AC absolutely needed for the hot summer! The host was super nice and gave us excellent recommendations for food and sightseeing. Will definitely recommend it!
What could be improved: Having two single mattresses rather than one double was really annoying, but I understand the convenience for the hostBasic accomodation in wonderful location – Hannah from Australia – 19 July 2023 (7/10)
Luca was a great host and had wonderful recommendations. The location was perfect too, just over the river – there was lots of cheap/cool restaurants and cafes.
What could be improved: The kitchen was very small and not very functional – no oil/tea towels etc. The room did not get much natural light unless you left the doors open which meant no privacy.Superb – Debora from New Zealand – 17 October 2022 (9/10)
Perfect location to reach the city centre. Quiet building and the room had what we needed for one night.

What could be improved: – The bathroom could be improved with some hooks to hang the towels
