This 3-star spot has this understated charm that grows on you, especially once you realize how well-positioned it is for actually exploring Verona without feeling like you’re trapped in a tourist bubble.

I mean, look – with a 7.8 rating, you’re not walking into the Ritz, but that’s kind of the point. The rooms are clean and comfortable in that European way where everything’s a bit more compact than you’d expect, but somehow it all works. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, which isn’t something you can take for granted when you’re staying anywhere near the historic center. The staff actually knows the neighborhood too, not just the major attractions – they pointed me toward this little osteria about a ten-minute walk away that I never would’ve found otherwise. The kind of place where locals go for lunch and don’t bother translating the menu.

Here’s the thing about Casa Emily – it sits in that sweet spot where you’re close enough to walk to the Arena and Piazza delle Erbe without much effort, but far enough out that you’re not dealing with crowds of day-trippers right outside your window at 7 AM. I found myself using it as a proper base camp, grabbing coffee at the little bar downstairs (decent espresso, nothing fancy), then heading out to wander the Roman ruins or climb up to Castel San Pietro for those panoramic views everyone talks about. The check-in process was refreshingly straightforward too – no unnecessary upselling or tourism brochures shoved at you, just practical information about parking (which, trust me, you’ll want to sort out ahead of time in this city) and honest recommendations about timing your visits to popular spots. It’s the kind of place where you can tell the people running it actually live in Verona and understand what travelers really need versus what they think they want.

  What could be improved: Accommodation was paid for online. At 21:30 at night, the woman answered the phone saying "one moment" and hanging up. She was supposed to meet us there to let us in but she didn't. She never apologised but messaged through "the girl has not cleaned the apartment".
  
  There was no further explanation and she claimed not to know any English. That's not good enough, she should have used Google translator and come to clean the property herself.
  
  We were left stranded on the street until we found other accommodation at 00:30.
  
  This property should be removed from Booking.com as management is extremely unprofessional. There was no communication afterwards regarding the refund or promise to compensate for travel to the apartment.

  The property spacious and the little extras (sweets, tea and coffee) was very appreciated. It bedrooms are decorated beautifully and the beds are very comfortable.
  
  What could be improved: The property was about 35 minutes (walking) from the centre of Verona. This was slightly disappointing as I had thought it was more central.
  
  Also, on check out, when we went to take the sheets off the bed in the double room there was a big brown stain on the mattress protector.

  What could be improved: Brak klimatyzacji, brak prywatnego parkingu. Są miejsca parkingowe bezpłatne w pobliżu, ale trzeba chwilę pojeździć i znaleźć.
  Uliczka przy budynku wąska i dużo zaparkowanych samochodów, właściwie ciężko nie łamiąc przepisów (np. parkując na chwilę na miejscu dla niepełnosprawnych lub zastawiając komuś wyjazd z garażu) zatrzymać się przy budynku autem aby wyjąć bagaże. Potem ta sama operacja przy wyjeździe albo spacer z walizkami do samochodu.

  Sehr saubere Wohnung . Ideal für einen Städtetetrip. Gute Busverbindung in ca. 100m Entfernung. Fährt all 15 min, leider nur bis kurz nach 20:00. Zu Fuß ca 30 min zum Piazza bra (Arena)

  What could be improved: Kein Hinweisschild für Casa Emily beim Eingang. Man steht vor einem Mehrparteienhaus in dem sich diese Wohnung befindet.
  Vermieterin war nicht vor Ort obwohl wir unsere Ankunft genau angemeldet haben. Erst nach einigen Telefonaten ist jemand nach einer halben Stunde gekommen.

  Great location in a quiet, residential area with a short walk to the city centre (approx 15 mins) or an even shorter walk to Porto Vescovo where you can take the train or bus into town. Local shops (baker, greengrocer and supermarket) and bars around the corner – and note that the prices are about 1/2 of what you pay in city centre: glass of procecco 3 Euros as opposed to 6 in centre. Loved that we could sit out in the courtyard in the evening for a chat with some drinks and snacks. The apartment was spacious and well-appointed.
  
  What could be improved: Although there was a Nespresso coffeemachine and we did manage to get some coffee out of it, it definitely needs a tune-up, or possible just a descaling, as getting an espresso cup full took about 3 goes due to the rather pathetic water flow. And we could possibly have done with a few more pods, but if we were staying longer we would probably have bought some.
