I remember pulling up to Casa Letizia all’Arena on a balmy summer evening last July – you know, right when Verona’s opera season kicks into high gear and the streets around Piazza Cittadella buzz with that mix of tourists and locals spilling out from aperitivo spots. Honestly, finding parking in the historical center can be a nightmare, especially with all those narrow alleys off Via Mazzini, but this place has its own spot – “parcheggio” right in the name, and it’s a godsend. I mean, I drove in from Lake Garda, and not having to circle for ages or pay those exorbitant garage fees made the whole arrival feel like a win. The building itself is this charming old stone affair tucked into the square, with ivy creeping up the walls and that faint scent of espresso wafting from a nearby café – you can practically hear the clink of cups as you step inside. Check-in was a breeze; the host, this friendly Veronese lady named Maria (or was it Anna? Anyway, super welcoming), handed over the keys with a quick rundown of the best gelato spot two blocks away on Corso Porta Borsari. The room – well, it’s not massive, but it had this cozy vibe with exposed beams and a little balcony overlooking the piazza, where mornings start with the sound of market vendors setting up below.

What really sets Casa Letizia apart, though, is how it nails that balance of being smack in the action without feeling overwhelming. You’re literally a five-minute stroll from the Arena di Verona – I caught a performance of Aida there, and walking back post-show through the dimly lit streets, past those ancient Roman gates, felt magical, you know? No need for taxis or dealing with the crowds on Ponte Pietra if you’re heading to the river. And get this: there’s a supermarket right downstairs – “supermercato” in the name isn’t kidding – so I grabbed fresh prosciutto and some Valpolicella wine for an impromptu picnic in the room. The place is rated a solid 9.4 for good reason; the beds are comfy, with those crisp linens that smell like they’ve been line-dried in the Italian sun, and the Wi-Fi’s reliable enough for streaming (though it dipped a bit during peak hours – minor gripe, but hey, you’re in Italy, not Silicon Valley). It’s sort of got that lived-in feel, like staying at a friend’s apartment rather than a sterile hotel chain. Oh, and if you’re there in winter, it might be quieter – summers get lively with festivals, but the double-glazed windows keep most of the noise out, except maybe the occasional scooter zipping by at dawn.

All in all, if you’re plotting a Verona trip – maybe for the romance of Juliet’s balcony or just wandering the Adige River paths – this is the spot I’d nudge you toward. It’s got that authentic edge, blending four-star comforts with real neighborhood charm, and at the end of the day, it left me feeling like I’d uncovered a little secret in the city. Sure, it might not have a pool or fancy spa (who needs that when thermal baths are a short drive away in Sirmione?), but for the price and location, it’s a gem. I left with a full belly from that supermarket haul and memories of sunset views over the arena – you won’t regret it.

  The place is PERFECT.
  The best experience ever with booking. It’s a brand new decorated 2 bedrooms apartment near the Arena.
  We were arriving from Rome and Florence (very tired) and the 2 days stay in Verona (at Casa Letizia) was a bless. It is Quiet place, with air conditioning and all the facilities that we need ( you will feel at home)
  And it is Quite near the the Verona Arena and the city center.
  There is a supermarket in the same block. If you like to cook this is your chance to take advantage of the Italian marvelous food and prepare s risoto or a pasta.
  The apartment is beautifully decorated with racing cars. The books available are unique.
  It’s such an experience
  I’ll be back to the Casa de Letizia dell’Arena as soon as possible.

  Our stay was wonderful. It was the perfect location to explore Verona and easy access to the train station. The apartment was plenty big enough for our family of 5 and very clean with complimentary water bottles and coffee. Marco met us to show us through the apartment and was extremely helpful and gave us detailed information on the city and advice on an itinerary for our stay. I highly recommend this apartment.

  Die Wohnung hat eine super Lage, man ist sehr schnell in der Stadt. Zudem war sie sauber und alles war vor Ort, was man gebrauchen kann. Die Kommunikation mit Marco lief auch gut und wir haben alle Informationen rechtzeitig bekommen.
