Casa Marilla Overview
You know what really struck me about Casa Marilla? It’s one of those places that completely defies its three-star rating – honestly, I’ve stayed at four and five-star hotels that felt more impersonal and overpriced. The moment I walked into the lobby, there was this immediate sense that someone actually cares about this place, not just some corporate chain going through the motions.
The rooms have this wonderfully authentic feel without being stuffy or overly themed. I mean, the furnishings aren’t brand new, but everything’s been thoughtfully maintained and there’s real character in the details – like the way the morning light filters through these gorgeous curtains, or how the bathroom tiles have this subtle pattern that probably took someone ages to get just right. What really impressed me was the attention to comfort over flash. The bed was honestly one of the most comfortable I’ve slept in during months of travel, and the shower pressure was fantastic (you know how hit-or-miss that can be). The staff genuinely seems to know what they’re doing – check-in was smooth, they remembered my name the next day, and when I had a question about local restaurants, the front desk person gave me these spot-on recommendations that clearly came from personal experience, not some tourist brochure.
I think what makes Casa Marilla special is that it strikes this perfect balance between being professionally run and feeling like you’re staying somewhere with actual soul. The common areas have this lived-in elegance that invites you to actually use them – I ended up spending a couple evenings just reading in the lobby area because it felt so welcoming. The 8.8 rating makes complete sense when you experience it firsthand; it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does, it does really well. Sure, you won’t find a spa or a rooftop pool, but you’ll get genuine hospitality and a comfortable, thoughtfully designed space that actually enhances your travel experience rather than just providing a place to crash. If you’re the type of traveler who values character and authentic service over flashy amenities, Casa Marilla will probably end up being one of those places you remember fondly and recommend to friends.
Verona’s hotels showcase the perfect blend of Renaissance elegance and modern Italian hospitality, with many featuring spa services and authentic Venetian cultural experiences.

Great apartment for big group of friends. It was clean and tidy with towels and body soap too. Fully equiped kitchen with oil, sugar, salt that you don't need to buy. Balcony and terrace – amazing 🙂

It was a walking distance away from the railway station.

Comfortable, Spacious, very clean and great host.
Natasha from United Kingdom – 16 August 2024 (6/10)
Convenient parking and good air conditioning.
Plenty of room for 6 people. Local supermarket (small, friendly) and cafe.
Modern, clean furnishings.
What could be improved: Immediate surroundings drab/urban/appartment block itself unfinished. Kitchen equipment needed updating, extractor fan lights not working, blinds and shutters stiff/not fully working. Electrical fittings were coming out from wall in places, door difficult to open with one of the keys, shower fittings coming away from wall.
Nowhere to sit outside as air con units going full blast.
20 minutes at least to walk into old town.Joanne from United Kingdom – 23 June 2024 (9/10)
Location was perfect for us, 10 mins walk from the station and about 25 mins to the Old Town, 6 of us stayed and it was fine. Everything we needed for self catering, only missing a bottle opener, we brought one and have left it there, so enjoy! Quiet location and we would definitely stay here again. Verona is beautiful.
