Casa San Massimo, Verona – C.I. IPO230912276 Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Casa San Massimo? It’s one of those places that doesn’t try too hard to impress you – and somehow that makes it more charming. I mean, it’s a solid 3-star spot with decent 7.4 ratings, but honestly, the real appeal is how genuinely Italian it feels without all the tourist-trap nonsense you find scattered around Verona.
The building itself has this weathered elegance that I really appreciated – you can tell it’s been hosting travelers for years without losing its character. The rooms are comfortable enough (nothing fancy, but the beds are actually good), and there’s something refreshing about a place that focuses on the basics done well rather than cramming in a bunch of amenities you’ll never use. What I loved most was how the staff treated guests like actual people instead of walking wallets. The front desk folks – and this might sound like a small thing, but it’s not – they remember your name after the first day and genuinely seem to care if you’re enjoying your stay.
Location-wise, you’re positioned really well for exploring without being right in the middle of the chaos around the Arena. I could walk to all the major sights easily enough, but when I came back in the evenings, it felt like stepping into a quieter, more residential part of the city where actual Veronese people live their lives. The neighborhood has this authentic buzz – little cafés where locals grab their morning espresso, a small market where you can pick up fresh fruit, that sort of thing. Parking can be a bit tricky (honestly, that’s just Verona for you), but the hotel staff helped sort that out without making it feel like a huge ordeal. I stayed during late spring when the city wasn’t completely overrun with tour groups yet, and I’d definitely recommend timing it that way if you can – you get the warm weather and longer days without feeling like you’re fighting crowds everywhere you go. Casa San Massimo won’t blow your mind or give you Instagram-worthy luxury shots, but if you want a genuine base for exploring Verona where you’ll actually sleep well and the people treat you right, it’s exactly what you need.

What could be improved: Bylo zde trochu málo nádobí, hrnečky na pití pouze malinké a dva velké, z toho jeden prasklý. Chyběla utěrka na nádobí. Malý problém s eletrikou, pokud bylo zapnutých více spotřebičů, vypadl proud. Jinak nebylo co vytknout.Nadezhda from Russia – 8 October 2024 (8/10)
What could be improved: Вход в ванную через спальню, дверь в ванную издаёт много шума при открытии и закрытии, что мешает спать второму человеку. Постельное белье плохо пахло, когда мы пожаловались на это – нам сказали, что постельное белье должно быть чистым и предложили замену за 50 евро. Матрас очень странный и неудобный как будто надувной.Bernd from Germany – 30 September 2024 (6/10)
Oropax empfehlenswert.Marcello from Italy – 29 April 2024 (8/10)
Il bagno
What could be improved: La cucina stona con il resto moderno e poi il balcone me lo immaginavo miglioreStephan from Germany – 5 March 2024 (7/10)

What could be improved: Die Ausstattung ist in die Jahre gekommen …

What could be improved: Il sistema di raffescamento non era adeguatoSofia from Italy – 4 April 2023 (8/10)
la casa è molto comoda. ottima qualità prezzo.
What could be improved: purtroppo non abbiamo trovato nessuna bottiglia d’acqua.Joanne from United Kingdom – 5 July 2022 (9/10)
Great apartment – very helpful welcome.
Clean and tidy with a useful balcony.
Really great if you have a car, but close to public transport links.
What could be improved: A little noisey at night due to the trains, but not really a problem as we were so tired due to very busy days seeing the wonderful sights of Verona.Giorgi from Georgia – 18 June 2022 (8/10)
