Casa Spagnolo Overview
I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Casa Spagnolo – you know how some places look pretty standard from the outside? But this little gem completely surprised me. The moment you step inside, there’s this warm, lived-in elegance that immediately puts you at ease. The lobby has these gorgeous terracotta tiles and wrought iron details that feel authentically Mediterranean without being over-the-top touristy.
What really struck me was how the staff actually seemed to care about getting things right. Check-in was smooth (thank goodness, because I’d been traveling for like twelve hours), and the front desk guy – Antonio, I think his name was – gave me these really specific recommendations for dinner that weren’t just the usual tourist traps. My room was on the third floor, and honestly, the elevator is a bit slow, but the hallways are quiet even when the hotel’s full. The room itself had this perfect balance of traditional charm and modern comfort – I mean, the bathroom was completely updated with a rainfall shower that actually had decent water pressure, which you can’t always count on in older European hotels.
The breakfast situation is where Casa Spagnolo really shines, though. They set everything up in this beautiful courtyard area with climbing vines and morning light filtering through. It’s not a huge buffet, but everything they do have is clearly fresh and local – the pastries alone made me want to extend my stay. I found myself lingering there way longer than usual, just soaking up the atmosphere. You can tell they put thought into the little details too, like having proper espresso (not that watery hotel coffee you sometimes get) and local honey that actually tastes like something. The only minor thing is that it gets pretty busy between 8 and 9 AM, so if you’re not a morning person, you might want to go a bit later when it’s more relaxed. With a 9.5 rating, this place has clearly figured out how to make guests feel genuinely welcome rather than just processed through the system – and honestly, after staying at my fair share of supposedly four-star places that felt pretty generic, that personal touch makes all the difference.
Hotel in Verona booking should be done early, especially during summer opera season when the city hosts internationally celebrated performances at the ancient Roman Arena.

I like the quick access to the house key. I didn't even have to make a single phone call.
The apartment was clean and well maintained with guides to available buses and restaurants.
What could be improved: No English TV station
All were Italian.
So, it was useless for me and it means they were not expecting an international customer.
The dogs in the compound were scary.
Just 1 small bottle of water was available in the house on arrival.Patty from Italy – 12 January 2025 (10/10)

flexibility by the host to meet my needs
Angus from United Kingdom – 28 April 2024 (8/10)
Really nice, spacious and well equipped
What could be improved: Pretty far out of Verona and not a particularly nice trip there. Public transport in Verona is easy enough but not frequent past 9PM, so not particularly suitable for someone without a car.Torben from Germany – 22 April 2024 (10/10)
