Hotel Description
I remember pulling up to Casa Spinetta Malaspina on Via Nicola Mazza – it’s this unassuming street tucked away in the Borgo Trento neighborhood, you know, just a stone’s throw from the Adige River and that old Ponte Pietra bridge that locals cross to avoid the tourist crowds downtown. Honestly, I was a bit skeptical at first because Verona can feel overrun in summer, with all the opera fans flocking to the Arena, but this spot? It’s like a quiet oasis – well, sort of, except for the occasional scooter zipping by in the evenings. The building itself has that classic Veronese charm, with its pale stone facade and wrought-iron balconies that make you feel like you’ve stepped into one of those Renaissance paintings. Check-in was a breeze; the host met me right at the door with a genuine smile and a quick rundown in broken English mixed with Italian – no stuffy front desk vibe here, just a key handover and some tips on where to grab the best gelato nearby (spoiler: it’s that little place on Via Mazzini, about a 10-minute walk).
What really sold me on these apartments – and yeah, they’re more like proper self-contained units than hotel rooms – was how they nailed that home-away-from-home feel without skimping on the luxuries. My place had this spacious living area with exposed wooden beams overhead, and the kitchen was stocked with basics like olive oil and pasta, which came in handy after a long day wandering the historic center. I mean, you’re only about 15 minutes on foot from Juliet’s House, but coming back to this quiet spot meant no hearing the street performers’ accordions late into the night. The beds were comfy, with those crisp linens that smell faintly of lavender (or maybe that’s just the nearby gardens – there’s a small park around the corner on Via XX Settembre that’s perfect for a morning stroll). Parking’s a bit of a hassle if you’re driving – Verona’s old streets aren’t kind to cars, and spots are first-come, first-served – but they do have a few reserved ones if you ask ahead. Oh, and one minor gripe: the Wi-Fi can be spotty during peak hours, especially if everyone’s streaming after dinner, but hey, it forced me to unplug and enjoy the view from the window, overlooking those tiled rooftops toward the hills.
All in all, if you’re planning a trip to Verona and want something authentic – not one of those glossy chains by the train station – this is where you’d stay to really soak it in. It’s ideal for couples or small families looking to linger a few days, maybe catch a show at the Arena without the chaos right outside your door. The 9.4 rating isn’t hype; it’s earned from those thoughtful touches, like fresh bread left in the mornings during high season (July and August get busy, so book early). I left feeling like I’d lived a slice of local life, and isn’t that what travel’s all about?

Check-in very easy: just a code to open the door, no keys.
Huge rooms with a bathroom for each. Elegant furniture.
In a nice part of town (Veronetta) and very close to the historical center (5-10 min walk).

It was very good.
Location, cleanliness 👌🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️Margaret from Italy – 30 November 2024 (10/10)
The apartment was spacious with a bathroom for each bedroom. The pictures are perfectly accurate to the property. Our requests for early check-in and late checkout were accepted which was very kind since we were traveling with young children. Overall it was a great quick trip and it left us wishing we had booked for longer!
What could be improved: We had challenges accessing the building at first, but a kind neighbor helped us.Martin from United Kingdom – 10 November 2024 (9/10)
Great location. Easy walk to central old town. Parking was ok. Local shops had what we needed. Easy to gain entry with the instructions. Very comfortable accommodation for 5 adults. Heating was good – November stay.
What could be improved: Nice not to have to buy salt and pepper but a bit of olive oil would have been appreciatedLihi from Israel – 9 September 2024 (10/10)
Lovely, spacious, warm. Loved it

Space… a lot of space! Well equipped kitchen and AC in each room!!! YES!!! Large showers – one for each room, nice kitchen and dining room. It's quiet at night as it is away from any main roads. The design is magnificent… beautifully done to keep some of the frescos and add modern pieces.
What could be improved: The area seemed a bit dangerous… and it is a bit far away from the center if you have a small child (18 minutes). There is no view from the windows.Syed from United States – 1 July 2024 (9/10)
Location was good – specially liked the small cafes around. Room sizes are good, liked the new and clean bathrooms.
What could be improved: For last two days there were too much noise from the on-going maintenance thoaugh it was said they will nt work during our stay. Was there any air-condotioning – if there was could not find the thermostat.Christine from United Kingdom – 14 June 2024 (8/10)
It was great to have three big bedrooms all with their own bathroom.
What could be improved: The scaffolding that was up around the building. It was covered in a tarpaulin that made the apartment very dark. The owner did let us know beforehand but not with enough time to cancel and rebook elsewhere.Peter from Switzerland – 2 June 2024 (8/10)
really big, basically three separate apartments
What could be improved: one shower did not work

Welcome drinks were a really good bonus. Nothing was to much trouble for the host .
