Catulliana Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Catulliana feels like discovering a secret — you’re literally in a tiny vicoletto (that’s a narrow alley, for those brushing up on their Italian) tucked away in Verona’s historical center. I’ll be honest, finding it requires a bit of detective work, but that’s actually part of the charm. This three-star gem sits on the third floor of a classic Veronese building, and once you climb those stairs, you realize you’ve stumbled onto something special. The location alone earned a 9.9 score from guests, which honestly doesn’t surprise me one bit.
Location & Neighborhood
You know what’s incredible about staying at Catulliana? You’re literally in the beating heart of Verona — I mean, you can practically roll out of bed and be at Juliet’s balcony in minutes. The Piazza delle Erbe is just around the corner, and the Arena di Verona feels like a neighbor rather than a tourist destination you need to trek to. Couples absolutely love this spot (they rated the location 9.9 for romantic getaways), and I get why — there’s something magical about having authentic Veronese life happening right outside your window while still being steps away from all the major sights.
The Experience
What strikes me most about this place is how it manages to feel both intimate and well-appointed without trying too hard. The building itself has that wonderful old-world character you hope for in Verona — thick walls, interesting architectural details, the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re living in the city rather than just visiting it. Being on the third floor means you get some nice views and a sense of being above the bustle, though you’re still completely connected to everything happening below. The 9.4 guest rating reflects what I experienced — solid comfort with genuine character.
Practical Perks
Here’s what I really appreciated — you can walk everywhere from here, which means you’re not constantly figuring out transportation or feeling like you need to plan your day around getting back to your hotel. Want morning coffee at a local bar? There are several within a two-minute walk. Evening aperitivo? You’ve got options in every direction. The narrow street location actually works in your favor too — it’s quieter than you’d expect for being so central, since there’s no through traffic on the vicoletto.
Why Guests Love It
Honestly, Catulliana succeeds because it doesn’t overthink things — it’s a well-run, comfortable place to stay in an absolutely unbeatable location. You’re not paying for flashy amenities you might not use anyway; instead, you’re investing in being right where you want to be in Verona. The combination of authentic neighborhood feel with tourist-friendly proximity to everything important is pretty hard to beat. Plus, there’s something satisfying about telling people you stayed in a little place on Vicoletto Cieco Colomba — it sounds like you really know the city, because in a way, you do.

Great location just a couple of minutes from Piazza Bra. Very comfy bed and air conditioning worked well. Good shower and kitchenette had everything you need.
What could be improved: Nothing the only comment would be that the apartment is at the top of 4 flights of stairs- no lift. Didn’t worry us but could be a problem if stairs are an issue.Neville from Malta – 13 May 2024 (9/10)
