Cavour44 – Palazzo Canossa Overview
You know what struck me first about Cavour44 – Palazzo Canossa? Walking up to this place, you immediately realize you’re not just staying at some cookie-cutter hotel – you’re actually sleeping in a piece of history. I mean, the name literally has “palazzo” in it, and once you step inside, you get why. The building has this incredible old-world elegance that somehow doesn’t feel stuffy or museum-like.
What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to preserve all these original architectural details – I’m talking about soaring ceilings, period frescoes, and these gorgeous marble floors that probably have more stories to tell than most travel writers. But here’s the thing that sets it apart: they’ve seamlessly integrated modern comfort without destroying the character. The rooms feel genuinely luxurious (and I don’t throw that word around lightly), with that perfect balance of historical charm and contemporary amenities that actually work. Honestly, I’ve stayed in plenty of “historic” hotels where the WiFi is terrible and the plumbing sounds like it’s from the Renaissance – not the case here.
The location is pretty fantastic too, especially if you want to be in the heart of things without dealing with the chaos of the main tourist drags. You’re close enough to walk to all the major sights, but tucked away on a quieter street where you can actually get some sleep at night. The staff really knows their stuff – not just the typical concierge recommendations, but genuine local insights about where to eat, when to visit certain places to avoid crowds, that sort of thing. I remember asking about a good spot for aperitivo that wasn’t completely overrun with tourists, and they pointed me toward this little place around the corner that became my go-to for the rest of the trip. With a 9.3 rating, it’s clear I’m not the only one who felt this way about the place. It’s one of those hotels where you actually look forward to coming back at the end of the day, rather than just using it as a place to crash.

What could be improved: Everything was great. This is a fabulous place to stay! – Linda from United States – 14 June 2025 (10/10)
The room was pleasant, spacious, well furnished, clean and had a mini kitchen. It was walking distance to everything. We could have easily stayed there a couple of weeks.
What could be improved: Nothing!Great stay – Ioana from Austria – 7 June 2025 (10/10)
Everything was great, a trully special place. Communication with the owner was excellent, parking was available at the location and everything was at a walking distance
Exceptional – Nicole from United States – 3 June 2025 (10/10)
It's not an average place to stay. Not a hotel exactly but not a single apartment. It's a wing of an old Palazzo/small Villa that is the only way to explain. It is very special and easy to get to everything from this location. It's gated and on the river. I would recommend if you are a private person and prefer quite a non crowded establishment.
Verona – Jan from Australia – 30 May 2025 (10/10)
The property was clean, secure and in a great location. Close to attractions and restaurants. Host was very friendly
Wonderful Apartment – Hall from United Kingdom – 29 May 2025 (9/10)
Where do I start? The location is excellent to explore Verona, everything within walking distance. 15 minute walk to the station or a short bus ride ( busstop close by). Only a 25 minute train ride to Lake Garda. Very beautiful and very secure building, if you are hiring a car the parking is excellent.
The bed is extremely comfy with plenty of cushions. The little road opposite has a lovely family run restaurant, which is one of the best meals we had on holiday, everything homemade – Enocibus Al Promo D'Oro. I would definitely recommend the property to anyone wanting to explore the lovely city of Verona.
What could be improved: It was perfectLoved our stay at Cavour 44. – Karl from United States – 25 May 2025 (9/10)
Great location. The bedroom was very large and beautifully appointed. The manager and his son were exceptionally nice.
What could be improved: Many doors to go through to get to your room, and there’s about a thirty step climb.Palazzo living – Denise from Australia – 23 May 2025 (8/10)
Walking into an old palazzo, up the grand stairs and then into our converted and very modern studio apartment was quite a thrill. We could touch the ceiling with our hands, it felt like a fairy tale, and it although it was all very compact, it worked.
The owner was extremely friendly and helpful. Great location too.We enjoyed our visit to Verona and would stay at this property again. The hosts were very friendly and responsive. – Emre from United States – 22 May 2025 (10/10)
The location was perfect for getting to all the attractions and was very quiet. The room was very clean and nicely decorated.
What could be improved: There was supposed to be laundry facilities however the washing machine wasn’t working during our stay.Perfect B&B in a glorious historic city and a thoughtful and generous host. Perfect – Rob from Australia – 18 May 2025 (10/10)
We loved everything about this B&B. Our host Massimo met us with our keys and a thorough overview of the facility etc. He was generous and available if we needed him. The B & B was wonderful in everyway and being part of a historic building and palazzio made it very special indeed. Its position in the historic centre of beautiful Verona was also amazing. We walked everywhere we wanted to see. We would highly recomend this B&B and Verona to anyone travelling in Italy. Thank you Massimo. June and Rob
What could be improved: Absolutely nothing!
