Cittadella Apartments Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Cittadella Apartments? The name made me expect something grand and fortress-like, but it’s actually more of a comfortable residential setup that feels refreshingly normal after bouncing between typical tourist hotels. I mean, don’t get me wrong – it’s not fancy, sitting at that solid 3-star level, but sometimes that’s exactly what you need when you want to feel like you’re actually living somewhere instead of just passing through.
The apartments themselves have this lived-in quality that I really appreciated. The kitchenettes aren’t just for show – they’re actually functional, with decent-sized fridges and stovetops that work properly (honestly, you’d be surprised how many places phone this in). I ended up cooking breakfast most mornings, which saved money and gave me this nice routine of hitting the local market. The 7.6 rating makes sense to me because it’s one of those places that does the basics really well without trying to be something it’s not. The Wi-Fi was solid, the hot water consistent, and the beds were comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with the mattress all night.
What I really liked was how quiet it gets in the evenings – there’s something about the apartment setup that attracts people who aren’t looking to party until 3 AM, if you know what I mean. The check-in process was straightforward, though I’d recommend confirming your arrival time since it’s not a 24-hour front desk situation. The neighborhood has this authentic residential feel where you’ll see locals going about their daily business rather than just tourists with cameras. I found myself walking the same routes as people heading to work or picking up groceries, which sounds mundane but actually made the whole experience feel more genuine. Sure, it might not have the polished lobby of a chain hotel, but there’s something to be said for a place where the staff remembers your name by day three and can give you actual local recommendations instead of just pointing you toward the obvious tourist spots.
Travelers should reserve a hotel in Verona at least two months ahead for major events like opera performances and wine festivals, ensuring the best rates and prime locations near popular romantic sites.

Reviews of Cittadella Apartments
Viktorija from Lithuania – 2 April 2025 (7/10)
Everything was not bad, but the smell inside was very strong and unpleasant. Also the door handle was broken, so we had some difficulties getting in… Besides that the room location was perfect:)
Navotnik from Slovenia – 15 February 2025 (8/10)
Very clean and big and comfortable bad
What could be improved: The pillows were very flatDejana from Serbia – 8 October 2024 (8/10)
Great cooperation, the host was very kind and professional, convenient location.

What could be improved: Have to qualify this review in that we did not end up staying cancelling on the morning (outside of refund window) when we found out there was no luggage storage facilities – this is why there are neutral answers to all the questions. This was one of 10 different places we stayed on a road trip in Italy, where the check-in was frustrating (photos of front and back of passport photos having to be sent online), and I enquired both days ahead and on the morning of our stay regarding check-in, with the answer that 'you will receive instructions'. It was on the last enquiry I also asked whether we can store luggage where they apologised and said 'not available'.
After some argumental messages back and forth, they did offer to ask the cleaner to get in early to facilitate this, but given it was in an insulting message: 'If the "big" problem is the your luggage ….' – I was done with this site.
This exchange aside, my issues were:
1) based on 3 road trips through Italy (and approximately 25 different accomodation sites), I have never before come across accomodation that will not allow you to store your luggage prior to check-in, including other self-check in apartments.
2) it is not clear in the Booking.com description that this is 'self-check in' – other apartments we stayed in had key collection (and luggage storage) in a nearby locale.
If I had initial knowledge of 'no luggage storage facilities' ahead of the time, I would not have booked this accomodation – there is no mention of this not being availabe on the Booking.com description.
This is indeed their right to have this policy – my issue is they are not clear on it, and it is outside my experience and expectation for accomodation I book through Booking.com
For me, this property may very well belong on Air B&B, but is not suitable for Booking.com, as they do not make the self-check-in aspect of it clear in the description.Cristina from Spain – 25 August 2024 (3/10)
Near both city center and train station
What could be improved: I cannot understand why It is advertised as an unique apartment when It is clearly comprised by two facilites.
Meaning, you rent 1/2. If the other one is rented by others Who make a lot of noise, you wont be able to get any sleep. On top of that, the electricity went off and the control panel was in the other apartment, so that the only way to solve It is to wait for the maintenance workers to come and bother the others.
Beds actually umconfortable.George from United Kingdom – 15 August 2024 (4/10)
Very modern apartment just outside Verona city walls.
What could be improved: Communication with owners was terrible. After contacting them to ask directions and instructions, they just replied “you will have everything on the day”. Plus the apartment had the most uncomfortable beds. Awful beds that hurt your back! Luckily we only stayed one night.Austin from United Kingdom – 6 June 2024 (5/10)
The tiled floor was very nice
What could be improved: The kitchen is useless / no microwave/ weak selection of equipment/also no extraction fan anywhere .
Door between 2 apartments might as well be made out of cardboard because it doesn’t stop any noise coming from next door neighbours even with the curtain pulled across.
The shower is tiny also if you shower for more than 5 mins it will be cold for your other guest ( no extraction fan in bathroom / altowel rails to dry towels not on so damp towels
Smart Tv isn’t that smart ( not even tuned to local channels , turned on once never again
Sofa bed is just as comfortable as sleeping on a bed of metal springs also sagged in middle with over use
Bed duvet cover was a sheet with no poppers or buttons wrapped over duvet .
Parking is on public street ( keep car locked as some weasel stole my sunglasses out my car after I left it unlocked for 10mins )
Erico the owner couldn’t understand why I wasn’t happySharee from New Zealand – 19 February 2024 (3/10)
What could be improved: The bathroom smelt very very bad and unfortunately made the whole apartment smell. The sofa bed in the double room was not fit for a comfortable sleep. Definetly not a room for five people so suggest this is not marketed for 5 people.
Artests from Russia – 17 December 2023 (7/10)
What could be improved: Too much noise from neighbors, you can even hear their conversations. Raw sewage smell in the bathroom. Not very comfortable kitchen and not enough kitchenware.
Ursu from Romania – 23 November 2023 (8/10)
The apartment is spacious, intimate, it was ideal for a family with a child. Both the bed and the sofa bed, very comfortable, we slept very well. The apartment is properly equipped with everything you need. The host Enrico is very attentive and prompt with his guests. Close to the Arena and the rest of the tourist attractions.I recommend the location.
What could be improved: The smell
