Sometimes the best places are the ones that don’t need to shout about themselves. This four-star boutique property sits right in the Città Antica district, and I mean right in the thick of things — you’re literally steps away from everything that makes Verona magical.

Location That Actually Matters

Here’s the thing about location in Verona — you either get it right or you spend half your trip walking. Diaz 18 gets it so right it’s almost unfair to other hotels. I could roll out of bed and be at Juliet’s balcony in three minutes (though honestly, it’s a bit of a tourist trap). What I loved more was being able to duck into authentic osterie that locals actually frequent, grab morning coffee at bars where you won’t hear a word of English, and stumble back after evening aperitivos without needing a map. The couples rating of 9.7 for location makes perfect sense — this is exactly where you want to be for romantic evening strolls through medieval streets.

The Room Experience

I’ll be straight with you — the room isn’t huge, but it’s thoughtfully designed in that Italian way where every centimeter serves a purpose. What really impressed me were those beds everyone raves about in the reviews. I’m usually a light sleeper, especially in city centers, but I slept like the dead here. The linens feel expensive (probably are), and there’s something about the mattress that just works. The bathroom was compact but well-appointed, and I appreciated the attention to details like proper lighting for getting ready.

The Neighborhood Vibe

Staying in Città Antica means you’re living like a local, sort of. My morning routine became grabbing espresso at the corner bar where the barista started recognizing me by day two, then wandering through the morning market in Piazza delle Erbe. Evenings were even better — the whole area transforms when the day-trippers leave, and you get this intimate sense of what Verona is really about. I found myself lingering in tiny wine bars tucked into medieval buildings, places I never would have discovered if I’d stayed outside the historic center.

Diaz 18 isn’t trying to wow you with flashy amenities or over-the-top service. When you can walk to Arena di Verona for evening opera, pop over to Castelvecchio for afternoon culture, and still feel like you’re staying in a neighborhood rather than a tourist zone, you know you’ve found something special.

  Raffael was very kind and helpful. The apartment is really nice in a very good place.
  
  What could be improved: The room was abowe a restaurant. Maybe the slab was made of paper so you could feel you lie in the middle the restaurant. You can hear the guests talking and the music. Noise is not problem if you so tired that you can fall asleep immediately but any other cases you will wait till the restaurant closes…

  The location is excellent: a stones throw from the river and the very heart of the old city of Verona. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The apartment is very large and comfortable and with a clean and modern bathroom. Breakfast was via vouchers in a little cafe across the street form the apartment where there was nice atmosphere, friendly service and coffee with a choice of a couple of of small pastries or croissants – not a hearty breakfast but served in a real Italian atmosphere with the locals.
  
  What could be improved: Hot water in the bathroom was problematic. And entrance to the apartment involves four separate locked doors although keys were provided to all of these.
