Dimore Verona – Residenza San Zeno Apartments Overview

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard about Dimore Verona – Residenza San Zeno Apartments, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The name sounds pretty fancy, but once you actually get there, it’s got this relaxed, almost residential vibe that really grew on me. You know how some places try too hard to be boutique-y? This isn’t one of those places.

The apartments are tucked away in the San Zeno area, which – if you know Verona at all – is where you’ll find the stunning Basilica di San Zeno Maggiore. I mean, we’re talking about one of the most beautiful Romanesque churches in northern Italy, and you’re basically staying in its neighborhood. The mornings are particularly magical here because you get that soft light filtering through the narrow streets before the tour buses arrive. There’s this little café around the corner where locals grab their morning espresso (standing up, obviously), and honestly, starting your day there makes you feel less like a tourist and more like you’re just… living in Verona for a while.

What I really appreciated about the residenza is how it doesn’t feel like a typical hotel experience. The apartments have actual kitchens – not those sad little kitchenettes with a mini-fridge, but proper spaces where you can cook if you want to. After a few days of restaurant meals (no matter how incredible the food is), sometimes you just want to grab some fresh produce from the morning market and make yourself a simple dinner. The staff has this laid-back approach too; they’re there when you need them but they’re not hovering or trying to upsell you on every little thing. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no lengthy presentation about amenities I’ll never use.

The building itself has character without being precious about it. You’ll notice the original architectural details, but they haven’t been over-restored to the point where everything feels sterile. The rooms are clean and comfortable, though I’d say the sound insulation varies – I had a quieter unit facing an interior courtyard, but I know some friends who stayed here mentioned hearing a bit more street noise. It’s not deal-breaking stuff, just worth mentioning if you’re a super light sleeper.

What really won me over was the location’s authenticity. You’re close enough to walk to all the major sights – the Arena, Juliet’s balcony (if you’re into that sort of thing), Piazza delle Erbe – but you’re staying in a part of town where people actually live and work. There’s something really satisfying about walking back from dinner through these quieter streets, past local shops and residences, instead of fighting through crowds of tourists right outside your door. Plus, the San Zeno area has some genuinely good restaurants that locals frequent, places you might not discover if you were staying in the more obvious hotel zones near the Arena.

Reviews of Dimore Verona – Residenza San Zeno Apartments

  • Overall a good rental but room for improvement. – Daryn from Canada – 2 July 2025 (7/10)

    Clean, convenient, spacious

What could be improved: AC didn’t work very well and it was very hot

  • Very good – Annette from United Kingdom – 27 June 2025 (8/10)

Excellent location, had everything you required. Would definitely stay again.

What could be improved: Would have been nice to have a garden or somewhere to sit outside.

  • Practical apartment with good location – Patricia from Luxembourg – 17 June 2024 (7/10)

The apartment is spacious, clean and well placed

What could be improved: We were on the ground floor, so the apartment was a bit dark and there was no way to open curtains because otherwise everyone from street would see inside. Furthermore there were bars on all windows and the view is either on the street or on the parking so nothing particularly charming. Also kitchen is equipped but rather basic. Those are details, but at the end that's what counts, for example we were missing glasses for wine or at least coffee for the coffee machine.

  • Perfect little apartment from which to explore Verona. – Anna from Australia – 20 September 2023 (9/10)

Had everything we needed for self-catering with supermarket and restaurants near by.

What could be improved: I didn't realise that we were picking up the keys from a different location from the apartment and that it was quite a walk between the two in the heat of the middle of the day.
It was a little way out of town, which was fine for us because we like to walk but might have been a bit far for some people.

  • We had a very pleasant stay in your lovely city. – Robert from United Kingdom – 10 August 2023 (8/10)

Good Position- easy to find- quiet-clean-

What could be improved: Sheet didn’t fit one of the beds. -instructions for hot water lacking- Turning on hot water brought on under floor heating. One of the sofas was uncomfortable.

  • Excellent place for exploring Verona – Irina from Germany – 1 August 2023 (9/10)

Brilliant location, all the sights are in walking distance, easy check-in

  • Superb – Jiri from Czech Republic – 13 July 2023 (9/10)

Good location, air conditioning, enough space

What could be improved: Somewhat dark. Kitchen might be better equipped.

  • Great location – Brian from United Kingdom – 8 June 2023 (9/10)

Great location and parking under the building.

What could be improved: But tricky picking up the keys in a very busy part of town.

  • Superb – Nikitina from Latvia – 29 September 2022 (9/10)

    Great location:)

    What could be improved: –

  • super clean, great value and perfect for a family of four who doesn’t mind walking a bit to get to historic center. exce – Kelly from Spain – 2 September 2022 (9/10)

wonderful staff and very very helpful and prompt to respond!

What could be improved: the microwave couldn’t plug in which was odd. also I suggest providing a sponge to wash dishes and a roll of paper towels
