I was expecting just another converted palazzo – and honestly, Verona has plenty of those – but this place actually feels like someone’s incredibly elegant home that happens to rent out rooms. The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that you’re somewhere special, not just another hotel trying too hard to be boutique.

The thing is, staying in a genuine palazzo means you get all these unexpected details that newer places just can’t replicate. I’m talking about frescoed ceilings that make you stop mid-conversation, original terrazzo floors that have this perfect worn-smooth patina, and windows that frame views like they were planned centuries ago (which, well, they sort of were). The rooms feel substantial – thick walls that actually keep street noise out, high ceilings that make everything feel grand without being stuffy. And the bathrooms? They’ve managed to blend modern fixtures with the historic bones in a way that doesn’t feel jarring, which honestly is harder to pull off than you’d think.

What really won me over though was how the staff treats the place – they’re genuinely proud of it, not just going through hospitality motions. They’ll tell you stories about the palazzo’s history if you’re interested, but they’re equally happy to point you toward that little enoteca around the corner that doesn’t look like much but serves incredible local wines. The 9.2 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there; it’s not trying to be everything to everyone, but what it does, it does exceptionally well. The location puts you right in the heart of things without being on one of those tourist-heavy streets where you can’t sleep past 7 AM. You can walk to the Arena in about ten minutes, but you’re tucked away enough that evenings feel peaceful rather than chaotic. I mean, if you want that full Verona experience – the romance, the history, the feeling like you’re living inside a Renaissance painting – but with really good Wi-Fi and excellent coffee in the morning, this is exactly where you want to be.

  What could be improved: Im untersten Geschoss war leider ein Wasserschaden, konnte natürlich über die Feiertage nicht gerichtet werden, TEAM hat sich jedoch gleich mit einem zusätzlichen Bett zu helfen gewusst und in weiterer Folge wurde uns eine Preisreduktion problemlos ermöglicht!
