Hotel Description

You know, the first time I rolled up to the Due Torri Hotel in Verona’s historical center, I was dodging those narrow cobblestone streets off Via Mazzini, thinking, “Man, parking here’s going to be a nightmare.” But honestly, their valet service sorted it out quick – no fuss, even though the piazza’s right in the thick of things, with Sant’Anastasia church looming just across the way. It’s this grand old building, sort of like stepping into a Renaissance painting, all stone facades and arched windows that make you feel like you’ve time-traveled. I mean, the place dates back centuries – it was a palace or something in the 1300s, and they’ve kept that vibe without making it stuffy. Check-in was a breeze; the staff chatted with me about the best time to hit the Arena for opera season (avoid July crowds if you can – it’s packed, but magical at dusk). My room overlooked the piazza, and waking up to the soft chime of church bells mixed with the smell of espresso from the corner café below? That’s the kind of detail that sticks with you. Oh, and the beds – plush, with those heavy linen sheets that feel like a hug after trekking around Verona’s hilly paths all day.

What really sets Due Torri apart, though, is how it blends that old-world charm with stuff that actually makes your stay easy. The rooftop terrace is a hidden gem – I spent an evening up there sipping prosecco, watching the sun dip behind the Adige River, and it was dead quiet, even with the bustle down on Corso Porta Borsari nearby. Food-wise, their restaurant does this risotto with Amarone wine that’s to die for; it’s not cheap, but paired with views of the historic square, it feels worth every euro. Rooms are spacious, with marble bathrooms that have these deep tubs – perfect for soaking sore feet after wandering to Juliet’s balcony (which is just a 10-minute stroll away, by the way, through those charming alleys off Via Cappello). Well, one minor gripe: the Wi-Fi can be spotty in the older wings during peak hours, but hey, who needs it when you’re in Verona? And if you’re here in shoulder season, like early spring, the place feels even more intimate – fewer tourists, and you might snag a deal on a suite. The staff knows their stuff too; one guy tipped me off to a quiet gelateria on Via Stella that’s way better than the tourist traps.

All in all, if you’re chasing that romantic Italian escape – you know, the kind where history whispers in your ear while you sip coffee on a balcony – Due Torri’s your spot. It’s not just a hotel; it’s like embedding yourself in Verona’s soul, steps from the Duomo and the river walks. Sure, it’s five-star pricey, but for couples or anyone who appreciates the finer details (like fresh flowers in the lobby that actually smell divine), it’s a no-brainer. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially off-season when the piazza’s all yours.

Reviews

Best hotel in Verona. Quiet central, historic building, fabulous rooftop bar, great staff, excellent breakfast. Fabulous lounge and indoor bar.
We had a great room with views over the historic church next door. This was our second visit to this hotel and we have become converts and will return next year for the opera season.

What could be improved: The weather was a bit disappointing, for which I cant hold the hotel responsible. Everything about the hotel was great. We also recommend their hotel in Bologna, The Grand..

    Everything.

  • Victor from Romania – 23 March 2025 (9/10)

the hotel has class, sufficient breakfast (could be more varied, it gets repetitive if you stay a few days), comfortable and extremely clean room

What could be improved: A small terrace for smoking and drinking coffee would be nice, but I don't think the space in front of the hotel helps.
