First Impressions

Walking into Due Torri Hotel feels like stepping into a Venetian palace that somehow found its way to Verona. I mean, this five-star property sits right on Piazza Sant’Anastasia, and you’re literally surrounded by medieval architecture — it’s the kind of location where you half expect to see Juliet wandering around the corner. The lobby hits you with all this old-world elegance, marble floors, and frescoed ceilings that make you wonder if you accidentally booked a museum instead of a hotel.

Honestly, the location is ridiculous — and I mean that in the best way possible. You’re a two-minute walk from the Arena, maybe five minutes to Juliet’s balcony (though let’s be real, that’s mostly for the tourists), and the Adige River is right there when you want a peaceful stroll. What I actually loved was being able to duck into those tiny wine bars tucked into the medieval streets — you know, the ones locals frequent where they serve Amarone by the glass and nobody speaks English. The couples who stay here absolutely rave about the setting, and honestly, I get it.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was this perfect blend of historical charm and modern comfort — think antique furniture that actually works, not just museum pieces. The beds here are seriously something special; I’m usually a light sleeper, but I slept like the dead on those mattresses. Each room feels different because, well, you’re in a building that’s centuries old, so don’t expect cookie-cutter hotel uniformity. The bathrooms are marble-heavy and spacious, though the old plumbing occasionally makes those charming European gurgling sounds that remind you where you are.

Breakfast and Dining

The breakfast spread is actually impressive — they’ve got everything from traditional Italian pastries to proper eggs Benedict, plus they handle dietary restrictions really well (vegan, gluten-free, kosher, the works). What surprised me was how good the local touches were; they source some incredible cheeses and cured meats from Veneto producers, and the coffee is that perfect Italian espresso that makes you wonder why you bother with coffee anywhere else. There’s also a restaurant on-site, though honestly, with Verona’s incredible dining scene right outside your door, I mostly used it for late-night drinks.

Look, this place works because it doesn’t try too hard to be something it’s not. You’re staying in a piece of Verona’s history, but with all the modern comforts you actually want — reliable wifi, excellent service, and yes, parking if you’re brave enough to drive in Italy. The staff genuinely knows the city and will point you toward that little osteria where the locals eat, not just the tourist traps. It’s expensive, sure, but when you’re walking out your front door into one of Italy’s most romantic cities every morning, it sort of justifies itself.

  Best hotel in Verona. Quiet central, historic building, fabulous rooftop bar, great staff, excellent breakfast. Fabulous lounge and indoor bar.
  We had a great room with views over the historic church next door. This was our second visit to this hotel and we have become converts and will return next year for the opera season.
