Hotel Description

You know, I stumbled upon EAP Suites in Verona almost by accident last spring, right when the cherry blossoms were starting to pop along the Adige River – that quiet stretch just a stone’s throw from the hotel on Via Adigetto. It’s tucked away in the historical center, but not in that overwhelming touristy crush around Piazza delle Erbe; instead, you’re a quick five-minute walk from the Arena, where you can catch those epic opera nights if you’re into that sort of thing. Honestly, arriving after a long drive from Milan, I was beat, and finding parking was a bit of a hassle – spots are scarce in this old part of town, so I ended up using a nearby garage on Via Pallone for about 20 euros a day, which isn’t ideal but doable. But once I stepped inside, whew, it was like exhaling after holding your breath. The lobby’s got this sleek, modern vibe with exposed brick walls that nod to Verona’s ancient roots without feeling gimmicky – and the check-in was a breeze, with the staff chatting away in perfect English about the best gelato spot down the block (Gelateria Savoia, if you’re wondering, their pistachio is to die for).

What really sold me on EAP Suites – and I mean, it’s rated a solid 9.7 for a reason – were the rooms themselves. I stayed in one of their junior suites, and it felt massive compared to those cramped European hotels you sometimes get; high ceilings, a comfy king bed with linens that smelled faintly of lavender (they must use some fancy detergent), and a little balcony overlooking a courtyard that’s blissfully quiet at night, even when the city hums outside. Mornings started with their breakfast spread – nothing over-the-top, but fresh croissants, local cheeses, and espresso that packs a punch, served in this sunny communal area where I chatted with a couple from Australia about hiking in the nearby Lessini Mountains. Oh, and the bathroom? Spotless, with rain showers that make you linger – though, fair warning, the water pressure dips a tad during peak hours, like early evening when everyone’s freshening up for dinner. It’s those little touches, like the complimentary minibar stocked with regional wines (try the Valpolicella), that make it feel personal, not just another four-star spot. Plus, being so central, I wandered to Juliet’s House in under ten minutes, dodging the crowds by going early – Verona gets packed in summer, but spring or fall? It’s magic, quieter and cooler.

All in all, if you’re plotting a trip to Verona – maybe for a romantic escape or just to soak in the history without the hassle – EAP Suites is the kind of place that sticks with you. It’s not flawless; the Wi-Fi can be spotty in the far corners of the room, and if you’re sensitive to noise, request a courtyard-facing suite to avoid the occasional scooter buzzing down Via Adigetto. But honestly, for the price and that unbeatable location, it’s a gem. I left feeling like I’d found a home base in one of Italy’s prettiest cities, and I’d book it again in a heartbeat – well, maybe next time in autumn, when the leaves turn and the air smells like roasting chestnuts from the street vendors nearby.
