Hotel Description

You know, I stumbled upon Enchanting Verona kind of by accident last spring, right when the cherry blossoms were starting to pop along the Adige River – that time of year when Verona feels less like a tourist trap and more like a secret you share with the locals. Tucked away on Via Santa Maria Rocca Maggiore, this place is just a short wander from the Ponte Pietra, that ancient Roman bridge where you can grab a gelato and watch the water rush by. Honestly, finding parking was a bit of a hassle – the narrow streets in this part of town aren’t exactly car-friendly, especially if you’re rolling in during peak hours with all the scooters zipping around – but once I ditched the rental and checked in, it was like stepping into a cozy Italian nonna’s house. The front desk guy, Marco I think his name was, chatted me up about the best spots for aperitivo nearby, like that little enoteca on Via Sottoriva where they pour the local Valpolicella without any fuss. The lobby’s got this warm, lived-in vibe with terracotta floors that echo a little when you walk in, and there’s always the faint smell of espresso drifting from the breakfast area – nothing fancy, but it hits the spot after a night out.

What really won me over, though, was how the hotel blends right into Verona’s historic charm without trying too hard. My room on the second floor overlooked a quiet courtyard – well, quiet except for the occasional church bell from Santa Maria in Organo, which is just down the block and sort of becomes your morning alarm if you’re not an early riser. The bed was plush, with those crisp white linens that feel like they’ve been ironed by hand, and the bathroom had one of those rain showers that make you linger a bit too long. I mean, it’s a solid 4-star spot, rated around 8.6 for good reason, but don’t expect ultra-modern gadgets; it’s more about the authentic touches, like the wooden shutters that creak when you open them to let in the breeze, or the complimentary bottle of prosecco waiting if you book direct. Breakfast is buffet-style – fresh croissants, prosciutto, and yogurt with honey from the Veneto region – served in a sunny room that opens onto the street, so you can people-watch while sipping your cappuccino. Oh, and if you’re here in summer, heads up: the area gets lively with festivals near the Arena, just a 15-minute stroll away, but the hotel’s thick walls keep most of the noise out after dark.

All in all, if you’re the type who wants to feel like you’re actually living in Verona rather than just passing through, Enchanting Verona is a gem. It’s not perfect – the Wi-Fi can be spotty in the older wings, and elevators are on the small side if you’ve got big luggage – but that’s part of the charm, you know? I’ve stayed in flashier places, but this one left me with that warm, fuzzy feeling, like I’d made a friend in the city. Whether you’re chasing Romeo and Juliet vibes at Casa di Giulietta (a quick 10-minute walk) or just wandering the cobbled lanes toward Piazza delle Erbe for market day, it’s the kind of base that makes your trip memorable. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially off-season when the crowds thin out and you can snag a room with a view for a steal.

  • Svitlana from Austria – 21 August 2023 (9/10)

Our recent stay at this centrally located apartment was truly enjoyable. The apartment's spacious layout provided ample room for relaxation and activities, and the well-equipped kitchen was a standout feature, perfect for those who enjoy cooking. The convenience of having a bakery and an ice cream shop within walking distance added a delightful touch to the experience. Stefania's assistance in securing restaurant reservations and providing valuable recommendations greatly enhanced our experience. While the overall experience was great, a few minor improvements could elevate it to a perfect score. Nonetheless, I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone seeking a comfortable and well-located retreat.

What could be improved: While the location offered easy access to local attractions, yet some practical information such as the WiFi password could have been more readily available. The numerous flights of stairs, demanding for even the physically fit, posed a challenge when carrying heavy luggage. The air conditioning in the bedroom leaked, and despite informing the management, the issue remained unresolved. The apartment's cleanliness left something to be desired upon arrival. Bedding and towels were set up for four guests instead of the five we had booked for. These issues, if addressed, could significantly enhance the guest experience.

  • Nikhil from United States – 26 July 2023 (9/10)

It was a gorgeous two-story apartment, that was super spacious and beautiful. Nice and comfortable furnishings. modern touches.
Modern refrigerator, we loved that there was a wine fridge and separate freezer, dishwasher, microwave oven, and cooking supplies if you wanted to cook!
Air conditioning was great as was the Wi-Fi.
Super thoughtful touch is included shampoo, body wash, and soap in every bathroom as well as towels. They have amenities for you to use such as hairdryers, fans, sunblock spray, lots of places to charge your devices, number for a local pizza place, etc. Great location and we would definitely stay there again!

What could be improved: Cons: it’s on the 3rd floor do you have to walk up with suitcases.
Minor-no coffee/tea mugs only little espresso mugs.
Some spots could’ve been cleaned a little better, but it is a very large apartment, so might be hard to get to all the corners.
If there was a washer and dryer, we could not find it. We couldn’t figure out how to log onto Wi-Fi the first day, and were told it’s on the modem in the master bedroom.

  • Eniko from Hungary – 12 April 2023 (9/10)

Perfect italian renovated home, nice neigbourhood.

  • Denada from Albania – 13 September 2023 (8/10)

The apartment is very good located, and very easy to find. Very modern and clean.

What could be improved: Even though the reservation was made days before our arrival and it was specified that we were traveling with small children and would arrive relatively late at the apartment, we had a very difficult time getting into the apartment. We had to wait for about 2 hours in the middle of the night, outside the apartment, with small children, in order to get inside, since no one answered us despite numerous phone calls and messages. And in the end, after many attempts to contact the owner of the apartment, we were able to enter, and they told us that the information was sent to the wrong address, not the one we had specified. It was their problem and they did not care about that. although our information was clear. They should be more careful and responsible for where they send information and to answer in time the phone that they leave available to be contacted. Traveling with children and staying in the middle of the night outside except that the owner will not answer the phone is unacceptable.

The apartment also was on the fourth floor and there was no elevator. This was very problematic with the suitcases and with children's.

  • Donagh from Ireland – 23 June 2024 (5/10)

What could be improved: The Air Conditioning in the bedrooms broke down on our 2nd night so it made for a most uncomfortable night. We advised Valentina who told us it was reset but it was not (she subsequently advised “the remote reset did not work”) and a technician had to be called, but this was after we had left so not much use
