Hotel Description
You know, when I first stumbled upon Eufemia27 while wandering the cobbled backstreets of Verona’s historical center, I thought I’d hit the jackpot – it’s tucked away on Via Dietro Sant’Eufemia, right behind that gorgeous old church with its baroque facade, and honestly, it’s the kind of spot that feels like a secret even locals might overlook. I mean, you’re literally steps from the bustle of Corso Porta Borsari, where you can grab a gelato or window-shop for those handmade leather goods, but this place is on a quieter alley that dodges the tourist crowds spilling out from Piazza delle Erbe. I arrived in the late afternoon during shoulder season – early October, when the summer heat’s faded but the leaves are just starting to turn – and check-in was a breeze; the staff, a mix of friendly Veronese folks who switched seamlessly between Italian and English, handed over my key with a quick tip about the best nearby osteria for amarone wine. No big lobby fuss here – it’s more like stepping into a renovated townhouse, with exposed brick walls that smell faintly of aged wood and fresh lavender from the little potted plants dotting the entrance. My room was on the second floor (well, third if you’re counting European style), and yeah, there’s no elevator, so pack light if stairs aren’t your thing – but the view out over the rooftops toward the Adige River made up for the minor workout.
What really sets Eufemia27 apart, though – and I’m saying this as someone who’s bounced around a few spots in Verona – is how it nails that balance between old-world charm and the stuff you actually need as a traveler. The rooms aren’t huge, sort of cozy in that Italian way, with high ceilings and these plush beds that sink just right after a day of trekking to the Arena (it’s about a 10-minute walk, by the way, past the ancient Porta Borsari gate – pro tip: go early to beat the lines for opera season). I loved the little touches, like the rainfall shower that blasted away the dust from exploring Castelvecchio, or the complimentary breakfast spread in the mornings – think fresh cornetti, local cheeses, and coffee so strong it could wake the dead, served in a sunny courtyard where you hear distant church bells chiming. Noise-wise, it’s blissfully quiet at night, even with the occasional scooter zipping by on the main drag; no blaring horns or party crowds like you’d get closer to the river bridges. That said, parking’s a bit of a hassle in this pedestrian zone – I ended up using a public garage a few blocks away on Via Roma, which wasn’t cheap but doable. And if you’re here in peak summer, book ahead because it fills up fast with couples drawn to the romantic vibe; I overheard a few whispering about Juliet’s balcony, which is just a short stroll east.
All in all, if you’re looking to really sink into Verona without the generic hotel chain feel, Eufemia27 is where it’s at – that 9.4 rating isn’t hype; it’s earned through those thoughtful details that make you feel at home. I left wishing I’d stayed longer, maybe caught a quiet evening aperitivo on the nearby Ponte Pietra. Trust me, it’s perfect for anyone wanting to live like a local for a bit, minus the laundry and bills.

Although we never met, Matteo the host sent welcoming and helpful messages. The stylish ground floor apartment in a traditional building was large, comfortable and quiet with very comfortable bed and excellent facilities. Location was great – close to old city sights of Verona but also near the river and bridges for orientation. There was an Osteria and cafe 30 metres away and many more a short walk away. Great value for a few days in Verona.
What could be improved: Nothing we did not already know – such as no outside space to sit in and not much daylight. But this is to be expected in traditional buildings in narrow streets.Maddi from Australia – 21 October 2024 (10/10)
The apartment was perfect for our 2 night stay. It had plenty of space and everything we needed. The location was perfect – quiet but very close to the main centre. The host Matteo was very kind and helpful with check in. We will definitely be recommending this apartment to our friends and can’t wait to come back.

Large apartment. High ceilings. Well fitted bathroom. Large, comfortable bed. Excellent location near tourist spots and restaurants. (But two blocks removed)
What could be improved: Furniture a little sparse but had all the essentialsMartin from United Kingdom – 16 September 2024 (9/10)
Location was excellent for the major tourist attractions of Verona.
Facilities offered were generally very good. Could have benefited from a room safe (although window guards on ground floor apartment were good (although not on bathroom window) and apartment door lock appeared very secure).
Again could have benefited from better lighting in the internal hallway (as at night, difficult to see the door key lock easily).
What could be improved: Nothing really (see comments above re room safe and hallway lighting).Helier from United Kingdom – 8 September 2024 (10/10)
