Hotel Description
You know, I stumbled upon the Family Apartment London during a whirlwind trip to Verona last spring, and honestly, the name threw me off at first – I mean, “London” in the heart of Italy? Turns out it’s this quirky nod to some British flair or whatever, but don’t let that fool you; it’s smack in the middle of Verona’s Historical Centre on Via Don Carlo Steeb, a quiet little street that’s just a stone’s throw from the Adige River. I remember pulling up in my rental car around midday, dodging the usual tourist bustle, and thinking, well, parking here’s a bit of a nightmare – those narrow cobblestone alleys aren’t exactly forgiving, especially if you’re hauling luggage. But once I found a spot a couple blocks away (pro tip: aim for the public lots near Porta Nuova if you’re driving in), the check-in was a breeze. The host met me right at the door with a warm smile and a quick rundown in broken English – no fancy lobby, just a key handover and some local tips, like where to grab the best gelato on Via Mazzini, which is literally a five-minute stroll away.
What really sold me on the place was how it felt like a proper home base, you know? It’s rated a solid 9 out of 10 for a reason – four stars, but with that lived-in charm that makes you forget you’re in a hotel (or apartment, I suppose). My unit was spacious, with these high ceilings and wooden beams that screamed old Verona – think exposed brick walls that are cool to the touch, even in the sticky May heat. The kitchen came stocked with basics, so I whipped up pasta one night using fresh tomatoes from the market at Piazza delle Erbe, just around the corner. Oh, and the beds? Plush and comfy, though the street noise picks up in the evenings when folks spill out from the nearby trattorias – nothing earplugs couldn’t handle, but if you’re a light sleeper, request a back-facing room. Mornings were my favorite: waking to the distant chime of bells from the Duomo, that faint scent of espresso wafting up from the cafe downstairs, and sunlight filtering through those big shuttered windows. It’s family-oriented, too – we had space for the kids to spread out without feeling cramped, and there’s even a little balcony where you can sip wine and people-watch the locals cycling by. Sure, no pool or spa like some ritzy spots, but who needs that when you’re steps from the Arena di Verona? I caught an opera there one night – magical, though book tickets early in summer; it gets packed.
All in all, if you’re plotting a Verona escape and want something authentic without breaking the bank, this place is a gem. It’s not perfect – the Wi-Fi can be spotty during peak hours, and climbing those stairs with bags is a workout – but it captures that romantic, historic vibe of the city in a way fancy chains just don’t. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially off-season in fall when the crowds thin out and the air smells like roasted chestnuts from the street vendors. Trust me, you’ll leave feeling like you’ve actually lived a slice of Italian life, not just visited.

Great location! 5 min walk front the Arena.
It is located in a building with few gates, which gives a feeling of quiet and security. Wide rooms and well equipped. Nice bathrooms and comfy beds.
What could be improved: Hot water boiler for showers didn't work well all the time, so I had one cold shower. We talked to the owner, and she helped immediately.
