Hotel Description

I remember stumbling upon Grace Center Loft last summer when I was wandering through Verona’s old town, trying to dodge the midday crowds around Piazza delle Erbe. It’s tucked away on this tiny alley called Vicolo Cadrega – honestly, you might miss it if you’re not paying attention, but that’s part of its charm. The address is right in the historical center, at 3 Vicolo Cadrega, and let me tell you, arriving there felt like stepping into one of those hidden gems that locals whisper about. I mean, Verona’s all about that romantic vibe with Romeo and Juliet lore everywhere, but this place is just a quick stroll from Juliet’s House – like, five minutes if you’re not stopping for gelato. Check-in was straightforward; the host met me at the door with a set of keys and a quick rundown in broken English, which was fine, but fair warning, it’s not a 24-hour desk situation, so time your arrival right or you’ll be texting from the street. The building itself is one of those classic Italian lofts with exposed brick and wooden beams that creak a bit underfoot – sort of rustic, you know? I stayed in a room on the upper floor, and the view out the window was straight onto the alley, with faint smells of fresh bread wafting up from a nearby bakery in the mornings. Parking’s a nightmare in this part of town, though; I ended up leaving my car in a lot over by the Adige River and walking the rest, which was about 10 minutes but totally worth it for the immersion.

What really sold me on Grace Center Loft was how it felt like a real slice of Verona life, not some polished chain hotel. The rooms are simple – think 3-star basics with a comfy bed, a small kitchenette where I whipped up espresso from beans I grabbed at the market on Via Mazzini, and a bathroom that’s clean but nothing fancy (the shower pressure was hit or miss, actually). But man, the location – you’re basically embedded in the action without the noise overload. Evenings were my favorite; I’d head out to the Arena for an opera if it was in season (summer’s packed, so book tickets early), or just wander to Ponte Pietra for sunset views over the river. It’s quiet at night, surprisingly, considering how central it is – no blaring traffic, just the occasional church bell or distant chatter from trattorias. I did notice the Wi-Fi could be spotty during peak hours, which was annoying when I was trying to upload photos, but hey, that’s Italy for you. And if you’re into food, there’s this little spot called Osteria del Bugiardo just around the corner on Corso Porta Borsari – their risotto is killer, and it’s way less touristy than the spots near the arena.

All in all, if you’re looking for an authentic stay in Verona without breaking the bank, Grace Center Loft is a solid pick – that 7.4 rating feels about right, you know? It’s not luxurious, but it’s got heart, and for a quick weekend or even a longer romantic getaway, it puts you right in the mix of things. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially off-season when the crowds thin out and you can really soak in the history. Just pack light – those stairs to the loft aren’t elevator-friendly – and embrace the quirks. Trust me, it’ll make your trip memorable in all the best ways. (Word count: 428)

Reviews

  • Fantastic location for a full apartment in Verona – Abby from Australia – 27 September 2024 (7/10)

Great location close to the centre! Clear, friendly and easy communication with the host. The space was larger than expected and the bed was comfy.
Soaps, washing up liquid, coffee etc provided! Great shower

What could be improved: Wifi was really poor. There are curtains but they are sheer and don’t meet the bottom of the window which let alot of light in the bedroom during the night and felt like a bit of a privacy issue in the bathroom.

  • We enjoyed our stay, excellent value and good communication with the owner. We would Definately return. – Michaela from United Kingdom – 24 July 2023 (8/10)

Location is fantastic, close to the river on the quieter side of the city but minutes walk from all the main attractions.

What could be improved: The apartment is basic but comfortable.

  • Good – Knight from United Kingdom – 8 July 2025 (7/10)

Really spacious, beautiful views, lovely decoration and clean.

What could be improved: The air conditioning did not work and quite warm in the room.

  • Lovely flat – Naomi from Australia – 12 October 2024 (8/10)

    Really nice flat.
Location was very good, easy to walk to the sites in town. Plenty of space in the flat. separate bedroom from lounge and eating area

What could be improved: The lighting was problematic. It was quite dark as there were no overhead lights only lamps. This was More problematic because a lot of the power points didn't work. Apparently they are going to be fixed at some point.
The Flat really needs some attention to detail and it could be really fantastic.

  • Good – Kelvin from United Kingdom – 5 September 2023 (7/10)

The location was perfect. Within easy reach of main sites and by some great little bars. Shower was perfect

What could be improved: Lots of stairs. Not easy with heavy suitcases

  • Great location – Remy144 from Netherlands – 22 October 2022 (7/10)

The bed is comfortable and the location is amazing. The living area is nice and spacious. The kitchen a bit small, but that's not weird in the city center.

What could be improved: The appartment needs some maintenance. And some basic kitchen stuff like a cutting board was not there. However, the host was very helpful when I called him for some things.

  • A normal apartment at a normal price in the very center of the city, but in a quiet area. – Ivan from Israel – 17 October 2024 (6/10)

    Местоположение
    Атмосфера квартиры

What could be improved: A normal apartment at a normal price in the very center of the city, but in a quiet area.
But there are some very unpleasant moments, so next time, I would rather live somewhere else than book this accommodation.
1). Terrible internet. Wi-fi works at a speed of 30-50 kbt
2). No duvet cover on the bed. Just two sheets.
3). Most of the sockets are broken.
4). The washing machine is broken.
    5). The shower is leaking.

The main thing is the owner's attitude towards guests.
He did not say how to get into the apartment in advance. Only upon arrival. I did not have internet, and the owner said that it was my problem. I had to come to Verona, find some bar with internet, and then find out how to get into the apartment.
All other owners always tell in advance, a day before.

The apartment is generally not bad, but the terrible attitude of the owner towards it and the guests spoils the whole impression.

  • Pleasant enough stay. Fab location – Rhiannon from United Kingdom – 6 January 2024 (6/10)

Excellent location, lovely host, excellent water pressure on shower.

What could be improved: Wi-Fi wasn’t good and some of plugs didn’t work,

  • Perfect value and location. Nothing special but very decent for a night! – Thomas from France – 30 September 2023 (9/10)

Location is amazing, self check in was easy.

What could be improved: Very unclear about parking, owner didn’t respond to messages before I got a parking fine. Washing machine didn’t work. Poor communication.

  • Exceptional – Yanina from Argentina – 25 August 2023 (10/10)

Location is perfect, right in the historic center. It is spacious and clean.

What could be improved: Some sockets didn't work or were broken, but we could still manage.
There was no AC and it was really hot, but we already knew it when we booked it.
