Hotel Description
I remember pulling up to Grazia Luxury Home on Stradone Porta Palio – you know, that wide street right by the old city gate that feels like it’s straight out of a history book, but with all the modern buzz of Verona traffic zipping by. It’s tucked into the Historical Centre at number 80, and honestly, if you’re coming from the train station like I did (just a 10-minute walk, by the way, dodging those scooter-riding locals), it’s a godsend because parking in this part of town can be a nightmare – spots are scarce, and the hotel doesn’t have its own lot, so I ended up circling for a bit before snagging a spot on a side street off Via Scalzi. But once you’re in, whew, it hits you: this place isn’t your cookie-cutter hotel; it’s more like stepping into a stylish Veronese apartment building that’s been fancied up without losing that lived-in charm. Check-in was a breeze – the staff, this friendly guy named Marco, chatted me up about the best gelato spots nearby (head to Gelateria Ponte Pietra if you’re into pistachio, he said), and there was this faint scent of fresh espresso wafting from the breakfast area, which made me instantly regret not booking an earlier train.
What really sold me on Grazia, though, was how it balances that luxury vibe with real practicality – I mean, it’s rated an 8 for a reason, but as a 4-star spot, it doesn’t pretend to be the Ritz. My room overlooked the street, with these tall windows letting in the golden afternoon light that Verona’s famous for, especially in spring when the Adige River breeze carries that earthy, flowery smell from the nearby gardens. The bed was plush, like sinking into a cloud after a day wandering to Castelvecchio (it’s literally a five-minute stroll across the bridge – pro tip: go at dusk when the castle lights up and the crowds thin out). There’s no full spa or anything, but the bathroom had these fancy rain showers and locally made toiletries that smelled like lavender from the Veneto hills – small touch, but it made mornings feel indulgent. Oh, and speaking of noise: the street can get a tad lively at night with folks heading to the Arena for opera season (June to August is packed, so book tickets early if that’s your thing), but the double-glazed windows muffled it enough that I slept like a baby. Breakfast was solid – fresh croissants, prosciutto, and that strong Italian coffee – though I wish they’d had more veggie options; still, it fueled me for hitting Juliet’s House without themediary the line.
All in all, if you’re plotting a romantic getaway or just soaking up Verona’s vibes – think cobblestone walks to Piazza delle Erbe for market vibes or quiet evenings by the river – Grazia’s a smart pick. It’s not flawless (elevators can be slow during peak check-in hours), but it’s got that authentic feel, like you’re staying with a well-heeled local friend rather than in some sterile chain. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially off-season when the rates dip and the city’s quieter – well, as quiet as a place this charming ever gets. Just remember to pack comfy shoes; those historic streets aren’t kind to heels.

What could be improved: the dishwasher is not in use ,the washing machine was not in useVery good – C from Italy – 22 April 2025 (8/10)
Really good position and lovely apartment and decor, very comfortable and quiet. It has a lovely balcony too! Beautiful living room and comfortable beds, easy to reach and the price feels absolutely fair.
What could be improved: The second bathroom is actually connected to and only accessible through one of the bedrooms. The kitchen could have better equipment (bigger pots to cook for all the intended people, the soap felt watery, no cutting board). Staff not present and they felt hard to reach.Lovely apartment close to attractions. Would definitely recommend – Andrea from United Kingdom – 19 November 2024 (8/10)
