Hotel Borghetti Overview
I remember pulling up to Hotel Borghetti on Via Valpolicella – you know, that winding road cutting through the hills just northwest of Verona’s hustle – and thinking, huh, this place feels like it’s been here forever, in a good way. It’s not smack in the city center, which honestly saves you from the tourist crush around the Arena or Juliet’s balcony, but you’re only about a 10-minute drive from all that Romeo and Juliet drama. I got there in the late afternoon during harvest season – September, when the air smells like ripening grapes from the nearby Valpolicella vineyards – and parking was a breeze; they’ve got a decent lot out front, which is gold in Italy where spots can vanish like magic. Check-in was straightforward, no fuss; the front desk guy – think friendly uncle type – chatted about local wine spots while handing over the key. The building itself is this unpretentious three-story affair, sort of 70s vibe with clean lines and a garden out back that’s surprisingly peaceful, even if the traffic hum from the road picks up in the mornings.
Stepping into my room, it was one of those no-frills setups that actually works – queen bed with crisp sheets (a bit firm, but hey, after a day trekking Verona’s cobblestones, it felt like heaven), a small balcony overlooking the hills, and yeah, the bathroom’s dated with those tiny tiles, but spotless and with hot water that doesn’t quit. I mean, for a three-star joint with a 7.9 rating, it’s punching above its weight; nothing flashy like spa tubs or infinity pools, but they’ve got free Wi-Fi that held up for streaming, and the AC hummed quietly through those sticky summer nights. Breakfast downstairs is a highlight – fresh croissants, local cheeses, and coffee that’s properly strong, not the weak stuff you sometimes get. I wandered out one morning to Negrar, just a short drive up the road, for some Amarone tasting at a family-run cantina – the hotel folks tipped me off, and it was way better than the overpriced tours in town. Oh, and if you’re driving in from Lake Garda (about 30 minutes away), this spot’s a smart base; quieter than central Verona, though the evenings can get lively with locals popping in for aperitivo at the bar – think clinking glasses and that earthy scent of Valpolicella reds.
All in all, if you’re not chasing luxury but want an authentic slice of Verona life without breaking the bank, Hotel Borghetti’s your spot. It’s got that lived-in charm – well, maybe the decor could use a refresh, and rooms on the street side might catch a bit of noise if you’re a light sleeper – but the value’s spot-on, especially off-season when rates dip and the area’s less crowded. I left feeling like I’d stumbled on a local secret, you know? Pair it with a rental car for winery hops or a quick jaunt to the city, and you’ll thank me later.

For an italian breakfast there was a lot of choice and everything was tasty.
Sub Terrain parking in the heat is very important and they had it.
What could be improved: Hair dryer in the room was old and didn't work properly. Other than that everything was ok.Geoff from New Zealand – 29 May 2024 (9/10)

Even though the hotel is older, it offers a very pleasant experience. We warmly recommend it if you want a stay without great demands, at a reasonable price.
The location of the hotel was ideal for us, as well as the desire to visit Verona and Lake Garda, with a personal car.Angie1124 from Namibia – 15 August 2023 (8/10)
Even though there were no hot eggs etc, the breakfast was great, with so many selections you could easily eat too much. The room was a good size. We arrived quite late due to our train being delayed and could still check in just before 21:00.
What could be improved: The hotel is very far from the main attractions. About half an hour's travel from the train station.Judith from Netherlands – 13 August 2023 (8/10)
Great location. With bus easy to reach Verona
What could be improved: A bit outdated furniture but for the rest greatMojmir from Czech Republic – 28 July 2023 (9/10)
