I’ll be honest – when I first heard the name Hotel Italia, I wasn’t expecting much. You know how these generically named places can be hit or miss. But this one actually surprised me in the best way possible. There’s something refreshingly unpretentious about it that really grew on me during my stay. The lobby has this lived-in feel, not the sterile perfection you get at chain hotels, but more like walking into a well-maintained family home where everything just works.

What really won me over was how the staff seemed to genuinely care about getting things right. I mean, these aren’t the kind of people who’ve memorized corporate scripts – they actually listen when you ask questions and give you real answers. The check-in was smooth (no endless upselling pitches, thank god), and when I mentioned I was there for work, they made sure I got a room on a quieter floor without me even asking. Those little touches matter more than fancy marble lobbies, honestly. The rooms themselves are well-maintained and comfortable – nothing flashy, but everything you need is there and it all works properly. The beds are actually good, which is more than I can say for some places that cost twice as much. And the bathrooms are spotless, with decent water pressure that doesn’t leave you standing under a sad trickle.

Here’s the thing though – this place has earned that 8.3 rating through consistency rather than flash. You won’t find Instagram-worthy infinity pools or gold-plated fixtures, but you will get a solid night’s sleep, helpful service, and the kind of experience that makes you think “yeah, I’d stay here again” as you’re packing up. The common areas have this relaxed vibe where you can actually sit and read or work without feeling like you’re in someone’s way. I noticed a good mix of business travelers and tourists, which usually means a place has figured out how to keep everyone happy. One small thing that stuck with me – they keep the coffee fresh in the lobby throughout the day, not just during those narrow breakfast hours. It’s a detail that shows they understand what travelers actually need.

  Lovely hotel a short walk from the old town. Staff were all very friendly and the room was much nicer than we had expected. Breakfast had enough variety for the two nights we stayed.

  Location with parking garage (extra) makes parking and walking into old town very easy and safe. The location is perfect, easy to get to to and walk from. Check-in was very easy – -no surprises.

  stayed prior and then post a cycling tour. very friendly staff. able to leave bikes etc. Rooms spot on . 15min to main Verona area.Breakfast good.

  The Breakfast buffet was delicious! Me room had a refreshing balcony also. The parking was very convenient. Hotel is only a 10 minute walk to all the major sites, so close and convenient
