Hotel Maxim Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Hotel Maxim on Via Carlo Belviglieri, you immediately notice how this four-star property sits comfortably in the Borgo Venezia district — it’s one of those places that feels properly Italian without trying too hard. The building has that understated elegance that works so well in Verona, and honestly, the fact that there’s parking right at the hotel already puts it ahead of most places in the city center. You know how tricky it can be to find a spot in Italian cities, so this detail alone makes a real difference.

The Borgo Venezia Advantage

Here’s what I really appreciate about this location — you’re in a proper residential neighborhood where actual Veronese people live, not just tourists taking selfies every five minutes. Borgo Venezia gives you that authentic slice of daily Italian life, with local cafés and shops that haven’t been turned into souvenir stands. It’s about a 15-minute walk or quick bus ride to the historic center, which means you get the best of both worlds. The area feels safe and quiet, especially in the evenings, and I can see why couples rate it so highly for romantic getaways.

Your Room Experience

The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d expect from a solid four-star place — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully arranged without any unnecessary frills. The beds are properly firm (thank goodness), and the bathrooms are modern enough that you won’t miss anything from home. What struck me was how well-maintained everything felt — you can tell they actually care about upkeep here, which isn’t always a given. The windows open properly too, so you can get that fresh Italian air flowing through, something I always miss in those sealed hotel boxes.

Breakfast Worth Getting Up For

Now, the breakfast situation here is actually impressive — they’ve managed to cover pretty much every dietary preference you can think of. Italian classics sit alongside full English options, and they’ve got proper vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free choices that don’t feel like afterthoughts. The buffet setup works well, and if you’re rushing to catch an early train to Venice or Lake Garda, they’ll sort you out with breakfast to go. I mean, that’s the kind of practical thinking that makes travel so much easier.

Why Guests Love It

What really makes Hotel Maxim work is how it handles the basics exceptionally well — you’ve got reliable parking, a genuine neighborhood location, and staff who seem to understand what travelers actually need. The 7.2 rating reflects exactly what this place is: a dependable, comfortable base for exploring Verona without the premium prices of the tourist zone. It’s particularly brilliant for couples who want to experience the city like locals rather than just ticking off the major sights. Sometimes the best hotels are the ones that simply get out of your way and let you enjoy where you are.

  • Lucy from Canada – 4 August 2024 (7/10)

    The price for its location

What could be improved: The air conditioning wasn’t working properly and water was leaking on the floor. We told them several times to come and fix it and they came on the third day of the four days we were there to fix it. A little slow to responding.

  • Banicco from United Kingdom – 4 August 2024 (8/10)

The staff are very helpful. The cleaners clean the hotel rooms every time and are very efficient and friendly too. The receptionists are very helpful especially Giulia, Marco, Crleste just to name a few. There were all brilliant. The restaurant staff for the breakfast were also very nice

What could be improved: I did not like the breakfast atall. The same thing was served throughout our 7 days in the hotel. They don't have varieties and most times the food are cold. They urgently need to work on the breakfast. Also the hotel has no indoor restaurant as one will have to source for where to get food thought there are many fruits shops and groceries shops around the hotel. Perhaps for a night or two ok not for a long vacation

  • Luis from Portugal – 29 June 2024 (8/10)

Nice breakfast with eggs – good variety. Hotel has garage.

What could be improved: Old decoration – entrance and breakfast room are lower than street level – little natural light.
