Hotel Piccolo Overview

I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Hotel Piccolo, the name couldn’t be more perfect. This little three-star gem really lives up to its “small” moniker, but you know what? That’s exactly what makes it so charming. There’s something refreshing about a place that knows what it is and doesn’t try to be something it’s not.

The lobby has this cozy, almost residential feel that immediately puts you at ease – none of that sterile corporate hotel vibe you get at the big chains. I mean, you’re not going to find a sprawling marble atrium here, but the warm lighting and comfortable seating areas actually make you want to linger with a cup of coffee rather than just rush through. The staff genuinely seems to remember your name after the first day, which is pretty rare these days. During check-in, they took the time to actually explain the neighborhood instead of just handing over a generic city map, and honestly, those local recommendations ended up being some of the highlights of my stay.

What really struck me about this place is how they’ve maximized every inch of space without making it feel cramped. The rooms are compact, sure, but they’re thoughtfully designed – everything has its place, and there’s still room to spread out your stuff without living out of a suitcase the entire time. The beds are surprisingly comfortable for a three-star property, and I actually slept better here than I have at some fancier places. The bathrooms are small but functional, with decent water pressure (always a gamble, right?). One thing I appreciated – the windows actually open, so you can get some fresh air instead of being stuck with recycled AC all the time. The soundproofing is pretty good too; I was worried about street noise, but it was never an issue, even on weekend nights.

The 8.4 rating this place pulls makes total sense once you spend a few days here. It’s not trying to wow you with over-the-top amenities or pretentious touches – it’s just doing the basics really, really well. The housekeeping is thorough, the front desk is helpful without being pushy, and there’s this attention to detail that shows they actually care about the guest experience. I noticed they remember little things, like how you take your morning coffee or that you prefer extra towels. The WiFi is reliable throughout the building (tested it in the lobby, room, and even the hallway), which is more than I can say for some four-star places I’ve stayed at. Sure, there’s no fancy spa or rooftop bar, but sometimes you just want a comfortable, well-run place to rest your head – and Hotel Piccolo delivers on that promise without any fuss or pretense.

  • Antony from Canada – 19 November 2024 (9/10)

Location for rail and airport transfer, room, breakfast

  • Mónica from United Kingdom – 7 November 2024 (8/10)

The location is perfect – just 8 min walk from the train station, if you're going to be based in Verona for a few days and want to explore Lonbardy by train doing daytrips from Verona.

It's not that far away from the city centre either, but you will need about a 25ish minutes walk.

The bed I had was very comfy and big!

What could be improved: There was a lack of variety in the breakfast. It wasn't utterly bad, but it could have been much better.

  • Fitore from Germany – 1 November 2024 (9/10)

The first night was at the old rooms of the hotel, but it was clean. The second night was very good and you could make the difference from the other night!
I would suggest to improve the breakfast.

  • Zeba from United Kingdom – 27 October 2024 (9/10)

Easy to get into the old town

  • Dimitris from Greece – 27 October 2024 (9/10)

I liked the location of this hotel, very close to the trains for day trips. Also quite close to the center, about 15 minutes' walk. Nice room and very helpful staff. daily room cleaning. Very good breakfast. I would honestly go again.

What could be improved: Unfortunately, our room had a lot of noise from around. However, the truth is that I did not ask for change. should have. Also the cleaning staff forgot the room door open. Maybe it's not his fault because it ended very hard. Fortunately I didn't lose anything. i am lucky

  • Ivana from Croatia – 30 December 2023 (9/10)

Clean and comfy room, lots of pillows, mini fridge and good service. Breakfast was diverse and tasty and it offers free parking in the street (although the street can be very crowded, hotel offers paid underground parking). Hotel is close to the city (15 min walk)
